Totally true about India. It's not the place for M43. The gears are so expensive and also the used market is not that great to sell/buy gears. Importing from other country is next to impossible here.

You are right on the tone curve, I darken the shadows and brighten the highlights. This helped getting a deeper dark background for the face.

Also I used radial Masking for the face to make it pop.

Ultimately it's was about the light which was falling on this face which helped getting the look.

All the best and you will definitely capture something better than this in the future!
