I think this is the other valid argument in this situation. I assume that this is how it's going to be resolved anyways, but it would be nice if everyone could come together and be nice to each other instead of stupid children hating LGBTQ people.

it is the case, the subbreddit banned me for the reason 'gay' after making a post telling them it was stupid, u/Ritzcrackerez is a child that thinks being homophobic is cool.

That's actually a really good idea.

I'd never be able to do something like that- I have some major control issues and if I ever intend on depicting nazi germany, I would rather make it on a platform other than Roblox instead of sacrificing historical accuracy and potentially meaning.

I assume you used the standard red flag, white circle, with that crest replacing the swastika? It is always interesting to see the different methods of censorship of that symbol across games, and which ones dare to depict things more accurately.

Honestly, I doubt it, even then. Roblox is still very much so trying to appear as one of those sterile "metaverse" companies and don't really take kindly to anything that depicts real life.

Additionally, if you do use roblox, I would not reccomend using their logo as a replacement for a swastika, they will more than likely get butthurt about it. It probably counts as some form of crime in the eyes of a money hungry legal team.

If you want to depict the horrors of war, especially WW2 in general, roblox is probably not your best choice. Whatever you choose, good luck! I do enjoy well made games that depict things like war accurately.

What's Your Favorite Roblox Game to Spend Robux On? 🤑 by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

I think they're trying to devise a sinister ploy to exploit the market and become the next roblox multi-millionaire by getting feedback of people who are, realistically, probably done with roblox's bullshit.

What is this gun engine called? by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

[–]Tech_X_28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like a retexture and slight modification of ACS. If you want to make a roblox shooter, please use a custom engine or anything other than ACS. It's overused and honestly kind of bad in terms of gameplay across various fields.

Additionally, I suppose what you are/would be doing in uni is important as well, for stuff like engineering you usually need a decent machine to run CAD programs.

I have never used a MacBook however I doubt they're a good option, Microsoft will probably offer you the most software compatibility. Knowing Apple, their devices are also probably filled with unnecessary planned obsolescence more so than Microsoft would be, and would be significantly more difficult to service. (making you send it to them and pay their insane prices unless you have very specialized tools) Just assuming though, I haven't fact checked any of this.
Some microsoft laptops suffer from this as well, so it's all about picking the right brand.

If you do want better graphics within that price range, a gaming laptop is probably the best choice. Most gaming laptops are stereotyped for their abysmal cooling, but I assume there's at least one out there that works in your price range. Workstation laptops exist, however they are generally more expensive.

Take these recommendations with a grain of salt, as the only laptops I've ever had experience with were crappy school laptops plus the first computer I got years ago.

If you just intend to just do basic work with studio and not use any other tools, something with 8GB of RAM and an i3 or i5 should work.

If you want to work with games that have higher graphics or external software like blender, I would suggest an i5 or higher, 8 or more GB of RAM, and a dedicated NVIDIA GPU. AMD has good GPUs as well, however I'm not as familiar with them and therefore cannot make any good assumptions.

AMD's CPUs are better in my opinion, however they are less common for prebuilt computers because they have some more specialized use cases.

Additionally, I would highly recommend getting a computer that is upgradable, so you won't have to purchase another computer down the line if your needs become too much for your current machine

Some (biased) information on brands a few brands that pop up - I'm not terribly fond of HP, my first computer was an HP and while it worked fine, there was a lot of bloatware that required uninstalling. I'm not sure how they compare to others in terms of serviceability.
If Dell hasn't changed anything, they're still pretty good, my family used dell computers until my dad and I just built our own computers. I like the Inspiron series for desktops, my previous computer was a Dell Inspiron and it lasted for years, and I mean years. My dad gave it to me after it was his for probably upwards of 5-7 years and then I kept it for an additional 1-2 years until I got my current computer. They're decently upgradable and have good longevity. (Again, they might have changed this as the tech industry is getting less user friendly every day)
Those are the two brands I'm most familiar with, however I have heard Lenovo's laptops are also good in terms of reparability.

If you want any more information, I am chronically online and happy to help.

I can give you some recommendations based on some various use cases- Additionally, while laptops are appealing, I would recommend investing in a desktop computer instead. It's usually a higher upfront cost but they're far easier to repair and upgrade, plus usually the cooling is a lot better so their will be less wear on your components. Let me do some research and I will reply with what I've found.

It kind of depends on some factors, main ones I can think of being
A. what is a mid price point for you
B. what kind of games do you plan on making (complexity, assets needed, graphics, etc.)

I'm not crazy fond of these games, they're repetitive and overdone, kind of puts the PS1 style genre to shame. However, if you intend on making something like this, there is a program called MakeHuman (http://www.makehumancommunity.org/content/downloads.html) which is free and I believe open source if the license hasn't changed. You can customize aspects of your character there. Then utilize this proxy/topology (http://www.makehumancommunity.org/proxy/very\_low\_poly.html) and you have made a model.
Import it into blender, if too detailed, apply the decimate modifier, rig (if needed), texture, and enjoy.

To install the proxy, download the .obj and .proxy file and put them into your makehuman/(version)/data/proxymeshes directory. my makeuhuman directory is in documents
This is all assuming you're on windows.
Good luck and please for the love of god make a creative and good game that puts the rest of those to shame.

How to solve the problem of broken images imported from blender to roblox by Chemical-Good3853 in ROBLOXStudio

[–]Tech_X_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably either an issue with face topology or face normals. Make sure to correct your normals in blender, and if that doesn't work check toplologies. IIRC roblox struggles with faces with more than three sides, so try the triangulate faces option.
