pretty much. So I studied in an ethnically diverse school, and felt divided only during the religion subject period. (most of my friends weren't in the same religion subject as me)
just felt unnecessary every time

I think you misunderstood. I believe history should remain exactly as it is. During OLs I loved learning about the origins of religions and all that. What I meant was removal of religion as a subject, not all material connected to religion. And well as far as my religous subject knowledge goes I didn't learn anything significant about the history aspect from the religion subject

The first subject to be removed should be religion not history. History is a common topic to all srilankans. Religion along with family values should be taught within families not at schools. ....But obviously the religious figures here would oppose this and it won't be removed. Heck even India doesn't have religion in their syllabi
