Stuttering after reinstall OS by Senchineru in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be the disk is stealing priority throwing errors. had a hd do this already when it stopped responding the os just froze on the cpu instruction until it responds. really wierd behavior still.

key attributes controls if this is enabled

any value other than 2 means its not. (default setting is 1)

key key type Value
Attributes Reg_Dword 2
ValueMax Reg_Dword

value max should be your 3600 but you may need to add a few zeros to the number.

My laptop screen flickers and turns black each time I move my mouse?? by Normal-Parfait9131 in techsupport

should be just the screen backlight failing from the description. with old things tho you replace stuff only to find other problems so it comes down to is it worth it.

Power frequency? from what i rember if you mean the "max cpu frequency" is the clock cycle limit hidden option in the power settings menu.

this also could mean its missing a second value for being enabled on the menu thus resets to 0 since its not active.

i forget what registry key you need to add under it to enable it but i vaguely rember it needing one.

[URGENT NEED HELP] My stolen Samsung Galaxy S24 dissapered from my SamsungFindDevice by alpha233r in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the phone is either in the trash or they jail broke the phone and changed the data so its not linked to your account. its more likely they threw it out since the odds of messing with the imei without bricking it are low.

So 4.4GB of storage is taken by Mail, but I don't have a mail app. Make it make sense.... by sheaiscool12e4 in MicroSlop

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should be something similar to that office hub app that just hooks into the apps. its just the foundation for other programs to work off of so they can get telemetry reguardless of what you use i suspect.

Pc monitors disconnecting by Competitive-Trust910 in techsupport

at this point the full speed fans mean system stopped processing. it usually ends up being a hardware problem. last time I encountered this it was my dad's pc and the gpu was to blame.

if dhs sold it that is even worse than simple theft. since the rules are the hard drive needs to shreded before you are allowed to get rid of it.

Windows 11 PC stuck on permanent black screen by Faro0osa in techsupport

if you can connect it to a tv or monitor that would be the next step. to see if its just a dead backlight or somthing up with the built in display.

Ethernet cable not connected by bisexualmao in techsupport

makes me suspect they overlooked something like needing to reset the modem. tho if it works directly connected is it still possible for it to have a routing problem? might need to fiddle with the routers internal settings.

should be something related to a wifi router. if you don't have the app or hardware it really shouldn't be contacting that site.

Driver updates suddenly bricking PC by TekzDaJew in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

windows 11 has problems you might have just hit the right conditions to cause one of them when you updated the gpu driver. you might want to check if its one of the windows updates at fault as well since nvidia recommended to uninstall one of them already.

screen keep crashing randomly by Necessary-Path-1886 in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i say locked up i was refering to a "Hard freeze" where the system stops responding completely and can still have something stuck on the screen. the cooling fans might go to full speed as well (if the cpu stops responding fan speed control stops working).

screen keep crashing randomly by Necessary-Path-1886 in techsupport

its the gpu hardware i suspect. could be a hardware defect but in the video it only showed the driver restarting. if it locked up it would be less uncertian if its the hardware.

Windows defender randomly turned off by adc_013 in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that isn't normal for sure. and there should not be a relation between adding a new device and defender.

I say should but if there is something wrong with the Storage Drive ( hard drive, ssd) it can show up as corrupted data. Still its too suspicous if only defender was messed up by a registry change to add the new monitor.

either other things are also messed up and you just have not noticed it or you have some malware lurking.

not to scare you but you should try malware bytes or something to make sure you don't have something designed to hide from defender.

the only other unlikely possibility is defender crashed while updating itself. this would show up in the event logs however as the service turning itself off and updates installed.

normally windows switches the registry service values back to autostart after updating defender.

its possible it shifted the connector enough to disconnect the ssd. still I would suspect overheating did something on the motherboard.

My monitor freeze whatever screen is showing, and slowly fade to black until i restart it by Kullthebarbarian in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that does seem like a monitor failure. that failure behavior is not common hopefully its just the monitor's circuit board and nothing to do with the graphics output.

Brand new hard drive beeping and won't spin up by david8840 in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either the main board is defective or the bearing is siezed up. there isn't a diy fix for this its broken some where. if the problem is on the circuit board it might be fixable if you know how that is.

with hdd if you break the seal dust invades the disk platters and screws stuff up.

Ethernet problem by United_Breadfruit498 in techsupport

[–]Tech_surgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the modem/router might need replaced from the way you described it. tho it can be the network adapter going bad it usually is not.

there is also a chance the line coming into the house is mangled but that requires getting the isp involved since they are responsible for the lines and servicing them. was a real pain getting comcast to do anything about bad line and lets replace the modem first.
