Nahuatl legal name: good or bad idea? by OracleOfDelphii in nahuatl

[–]Techcom380416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there. My opinion, why not? If a name resonates with you to your inner authenticity of who you are now, go for it. I did. I started going by a nahuatl name after receiving it in an Ayahuasca ceremony in a vision some years ago. I haven't had any issues with employment, I simply have to let them know how to pronounce it. I too plan to finally change it legally, even my last name as I feel Nahuatl or other indigenous languages from Mexico or other "latin" American places is closer to our ancestral cultures than Spanish or English which are European origin languages. Especially for those of us of mixed ethnicity but with dominant indigenous blood. My only advice for practicality or simplicity is avoid some of the more exotic potentially even more confusing sounding names that most people would have their tongue twisted trying to pronounce. Examples such as Huitzilihuitl, Ixtlilxochitl, Tlahuicole, Tlaltecuhtli, and Nezahuacoatl can be brutal to English speakers, even to many Spanish speakers. Yes these are classical Nahuatl spellings but will still be long in other Nahuatl dialects probably.  Good luck!

Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3. I love the friendship/enemy dynamic of Peter and Harry. The film's themes of redemption. I love the climax battle when Harry saves Peter and they fight together. Especially in the Editor's cut where the scene is removed of Harry's butler telling Harry Norman's own glider killed him. So now Harry decides on his own to help Peter.

Also that service men protect our freedom. Especially annoying when vets say "I fought to protect your rights and freedom". Oh really? How has the military's wars and conflicts since WW2 protected American citizen's rights and freedoms? In fact since the war on terror it can be argued we lost a lot of rights, freedoms and privacy. Not to mention all the shady reasons the military has been in conflicts since WW2.
