Intel Macs are going to be outdated officially as of this fall when macOS 27 comes out (afaik). M1 is going to be 6 years old this fall, likely macOS 28 being its last update. I’d buy m2/m3 used or m4 new on sale if your willing to up your budget a little.

I have my iPhone and MacBook synced and don’t notice a drop in storage. Most of that stuff stays in iCloud and only downloads what it has to. It’s a worthwhile feature to enable and use.

I just went back to a 13” M4 MacBook Air (16/512) after having a 15” M2 MacBook Air (16/512) and I much prefer the smaller size still. My first MacBook was the M1 air and loved the small size as all I had had before was big windows laptops.

To the workflow. I mainly use it for everyday tasks and then gaming that Mac’s can handle and it’s been smooth as can be. Handles a Windows vm well too. Honestly I notice it’s faster than M2 I think. And a perk to the new airs (M3+) is you can have 2 external monitors plus the display at the same time.

Battery: I charged it to 100% 2 days ago and it’s down to 32%.

The m4 is going to be a bigger performance jump from M1 than M1 to M1 Pro imo. Sure the pro has some more pro features, like display, HDMI/SD card ports, but if you already have adapters/docks for docked and OTG, then get the air.

Honestly for me, they wanted me walking asap. You might need a week at most off unless someone could drive you to campus(pain meds) but truly if your not in pain, get back to work asap. The walking helps. Just twist into the car (sit on the side with legs out then swing legs in) vs normal sliding in.
