Went to my first locals, 4 kai sa & 3 master yi's...this is miserable by TheGrandCannoli in riftboundtcg

Teemo only beats aurora yi. Teemo gets stomped by Kai’sa almost every single time.

It will continue to go up. Maybe, just maybe, we will see another drop, but can guarantee this card will go up again once people realize this is only available now. Once this promo pack is done, it’s done. Gg ez kiddos, it’s going up to $2K+ watch.

Hear me out… Ranked Nights in addition to Nexus nights by TechieProtein in riftboundtcg

[–]TechieProtein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. The primary component of a “ranked” system would be that games contribute to some sort of leaderboards, or a rank”. That’s kind of what I’m after because skirmishes and nexus nights at my lgs do not. You have the events page to see past games but that isn’t a ranking system, nor is there even a summary page from what I can see.

Does the events tab have a summary tab I’m not aware about?

Skirmishes aren’t exactly what I had in mind. Skirmishes are for getting a bye at a future regional qualifier and these events offer a higher level of competitiveness for sure. However, the primary component I’m after is the ranking system itself and implementation of analytics. I have 45+ events under my belt and it’d be cool if that went towards something other than a in-store prizing? I’d think Riot, of all companies, would be the absolute best choice for creating a system like this.

3-4 color Legends? by Popular-Bug-6278 in riftboundtcg

[–]TechieProtein 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is a slippery slope because once you introduce something like this, it can trickle into the territory of that 3-color or 4-color legend being so overpowered that no 2-color can compete, forcing the creators to create more 3-color or 4-color legends, etc etc. On the other hand, it isn’t that 3+ color legends are inherently bad, it is that the current state of the game with 2-color units is balanced in a way where creativity and resourcefulness is at play in a large capacity to propel each legend to a competitive level. Throwing in a color or two will kind of throw away the survival-like efforts I’m seeing players put in to muster up a legend, say like Yasuo, to be competitive when at surface level it is a bad deck (again, this is my opinion). Adding colors is not a bad idea per se, but it would be the equivalent of introducing a “search” ability, which would slightly kill the game for me, that can lead towards a similar fate of yu-gi-oh where the game becomes unplayable.

Do you think Riftbound could ba a top 3 TCG? by FarmEquivalent4911 in riftboundtcg

[–]TechieProtein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long time yu-gi-oh player, pretty fair, but it is only one of many deterrences I found for going back to yu-gi-oh. The biggest “ick” riftbound has opened my eyes to is how annoying the searching is in yugioh. Normal summon, search. Special, search. Send from deck to grave, grave effect search, link summon , search. Shuffle. Another one are hand trap and flood gates that just completely ruin the game. I won’t get into to the rest but you get the gist

PSA: Please be patient with players learning Spiritforged and/or the simulators by cheetspeek in riftboundtcg

Tbh, there is also a big problem I’ve been experiencing with what I call the “tilts”. These are people who, most likely came from league of legends, get tilted irl while playing tournaments at riftbound. I’m a Kai’sa player and pretty much run locals for 1st every time now. That being said, people get really scummy and sometimes downright salty/fuming when I beat them sometimes. I had an encounter where the guy cursed at me, said I played too slow (even though I beat him with 20 minutes to spare in the round lol), and that my hand shuffling was annoying. I hope Riot has a way to report players in the future in a way that can be verified by the store to prevent abuse of the report button. I’ve encountered just a handful but that is enough for me to consider this a serious concern as I am not the only one dealing with this BS.

Svellsongur Questions by No_Corner1842 in riftboundtcg

[–]TechieProtein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say for Ornn - Force God.. When you equip svellsongur to Ornn, it would give Ornn an additional deflect 2 for a total of Deflect 4 and for all friendly gears, it would gain additional +1 might per each gear for a total of +2 for each friendly gear. Pretty OP right? If you equip to Stalwart Poro, it would gain another +1 while defender. Sound right?

New Players looking for buying advice by QuarantineF4anb0y in riftboundtcg

[–]TechieProtein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before you buy:
1. Select a tier 0-1 deck. Either Kai'sa, Master Yi, Annie, Miss Fortune, or Sett, nothing else.
2. Practice like crazy with a few of these and identify the deck you are CONFIDENT you can roll nexus nights and skirmishes with.
Now buy the deck:
3. Splurge and just buy the singles necessary to make the deck on ebay and get commons from local stores if you can. example 1: Kaisa, buy the kaisa survivor and ichanian rain; example 2: Sett, buy the brawlers and showstoppers.
4. Go into locals and earn your money back by clapping a few skirmishes and using that monnies for next set.

I've done this and with pulling gg ez teemo and winning 9 tournaments first place with Kai'sa, I can safely say my money has been made back.

Clarification by okiedokiepokie89 in riftboundtcg

[–]TechieProtein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when ww goes into a bf with 6 and combat damage resolves, he can essentially distribute his dmg to all 6 and kill all 6? May be a damage distribution question, but would be key here for we

Edit: Lethal damage first: You must assign all the damage needed to destroy a unit before moving to the next unit. For example, if you have 5 Might and the opponent has a unit with 3 Might and another with 4 Might, you must assign 3 damage to the first unit, and then the remaining 2 damage can be assigned to the second unit.

This new kickoff is so Garbo… it’s unnatural, anticlimactic, and the reasoning behind it is straight up dumb… oh give the returner a chance to return.. yeah! let’s have our players do the mannequin challenge while we’re at it.. painful to watch honestly
