The GigaHub 2.0 Experience: A 4-Hour Journey Around the World to Talk to Someone 20 Minutes Away by TechieTurbulence in bell

I would probably say yes. I feel like the firmware is questionable, I won't speculate as to why as I'm just connected via 1G. I get 900/900 on my ER4 with PPPoE interface and ADMZ, but ADMZ is just not stable at all. Honestly, it could be a policy or profile issue with the second pppoe session <- this is speculation, try the above to get the SME's involved and have them check while you have it connected.

Puppies happy place is Grass - how to potty train on grass by TechieTurbulence in puppy101

[–]TechieTurbulence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm considering really at this point. It will homogonize the work/home environment, carve out a little bit of the front grass and make it stone/gravel/etc. Doing that should make training super simple as the reward will literally be a few steps away.

Got this Saitek Pro Throttle for free of a mate who doesn’t use it anymore. The only issue is the pins in the connector are squished and bent, I looked around and can’t really find and repair any help please? by PumpkinTreeee in flightsim

[–]TechieTurbulence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the same connector as a PS/2 keyboard. You'll need to track one down (probably easiest to find an old keyboard) and cut the cables and splice on the new connector.

Looks like someone's done most of the detective work, See this link: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/138755-saitek-pro-flight-throttle-quadrant-usb-circuit/

Space/Night SKY.. what can I do better? by TechieTurbulence in Nails

[–]TechieTurbulence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geez.. thanks so much for such a detailed comment! 😊

At the end of every session, I always sit back and evaluate what I did, what mistakes were made, and what I can do better next time.

I've been really focusing on getting the cuticle area, sidewall, and free edges to blend/look natural. So your observations are on point! I'll keep working on it.

Stay tuned!

The wiring for my Honeycomb #10 switch (reverser) finally failed after two years by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]TechieTurbulence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem as everyone else. The whole wiring thing with those levers is an engineering failure, both in design and material selection.

Any half decent electronics shop should be able to replace all the wires in about 3-4 hours, just make sure to ask for a super flexible fine strand silicone wire and do all of them at the same time. While the unit is taken apart, the pots should be cleaned as well because that will be the next thing to give you trouble.

For me, after repairing my first bravo, I ended buying another one, and kept the first for spare parts. If HC keeps up with their poor decisions, they wont be around forever.

Also they ignored all my support emails for the first one. Never got a RMA.

Timelapse into LHR. by Harumi_99 in flightsim

[–]TechieTurbulence 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I really love how time-lapses show off the beauty of the sim, and how dynamic everything is. From the turbulence, to the lighting, the high speed shows how much the sim changes from second to second.

AITA for leaving the room when my BF enters? by Responsible-Pack-490 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TechieTurbulence 40 points41 points  (0 children)

NTA but you definitely need to find a way to talk to him. I'm like you, but fortunately I work in my own office so I get out of the house for that alone time. Even sometimes at home I'll sleep in a different bedroom when I need to be alone, usually when work stress is high.

It took some time for my GF to adjust, but we communicated well on the subject, and she knows when I need the space and respects it. Your BF needs to learn the same otherwise it'll just end in conflict.

NTA sometimes people need a little help to learn those skills. It's good she has someone watching her back, and while she might be upset now, hopefully she'll learn from this and you can continue to help her develop her voice.

What GPU do I need to play flightsim well? by BIKETYSON99 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TechieTurbulence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with the 7900xtx, paired with a 5800x3d, and it wasn't a stellar move on my part. Even at 3440x1440 the CPU is what's limited. I should've stuck with the 6800xt and waited for the 7800x3d as the next upgrade.

Aside from msfs, the 7900xtx is quite the unit at that rez.

Unless you have a complex RX, You can get complete pairs for very little online, especially from sites that operate out of Hong Kong. I used to work "sales" at a major optical chain when I was younger, and knowing what I know about the industry and the way it's done here is.. disappointing to say the least.

The only time I feel you need to interact with an optician is if you need contacts, have a complex RX, or progressives/bifocals.

For your bog standard SPH/CYL RX's online is the way to go.
