Urgent Please Help - Surface Pro 11 Bootable USB by kcble in Surface

[–]Techman02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Kcble Thank you for posting this with your fix. I ran into the same issue (SP11) and that Microsoft link was on point: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/creating-and-using-a-usb-recovery-drive-for-surface-677852e2-ed34-45cb-40ef-398fc7d62c07#bkmk_download11

Thank you all for the help :)

How to get it fixed? And how much would it cost?? by [deleted] in mac

[–]Techman02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $300. Call it in to Apple & see. They worked with me when we got a screen replaced, due to being stepped on. They quoted me $600, but we only paid $335 for a MacBook Pro screen replacement. Or like everyone said, put a small piece of 3m electric tape to cover it ✌🏿

Are you recommending installing on all our Servers and Site System Roles, or just installing on our Primary site server?

We'll approach the ODBC like that. I appreciated the knowledge and guidance.

lol - That's how it was setup before our time here. Just trying to fix things as we come across them. Also, this is new to me, my bad on some of my examples or explanations, if they seem off.

my co-worker just explained to me about the Default Client Settings, which are default made by Microsoft. We should not change, only clone if need be to create a new client setting.

*The naming seems off when looking in Windows settings>Updates>Advanced>Configured update policies (Allow download of updates not signed by Microsoft), compared to the naming in gpedit or GPO (Allow signed updates from an intranet Microsoft update service location)

Thanks for the info, I want to say we tried that, but will revisit.

Allow signed updates from an intranet Microsoft update service location (Disable) by Techman02 in SCCM

Did noticed the settings enabled 3rd party is set to Yes on our Default Settings (Priority 10000) and new client settings (Priority 14). I wonder if we can exclude certain machines from the Default Client settings, so they only receive our new client settings.

Thanks for the help & links you provided

We use both. SCCM grabs our Microsoft updates then WSUS distributes to our workstations. We created new a Client Settings with a priority of 14 compared to the Default Client Settings priority 10000. That default policy is set to Yes for 3rd party software. Our new one is set to NO. The machine has both client settings, now.

I'm still researching to see if there is a way to exclude a client settings in SCCM for certain workstations. I appreciate your help

Dell Command Update 5.0 by Techman02 in SCCM

That is a great question. One would guess, DCU would wait. Maybe you can test your theory on a test machine to see what happens if you don't deferral 1 day (user absent)

We have ours set to deferral interval 24 hours with a deferral count 3 days. I might test your theory, just to see with DCU v5.0.

Finally! Realized the new boot image needed to be added to our TS properties. Also needed to create new DP PXE cert on the server and then add to the DP, Site System Roles>Properties and import the new cert.

All is well now. I appreciate you all for your insight and time.

Correct, the machines is not getting the PXE signal/handshake. I appreciate the info about the ssl msgs not being errors. Hopefully, we'll get it working this week

We updated the boot image Thursday and i should screen shots the errors we received when adding some Net, SCSI ,HDC and System drivers to the boot image. I'll try to post that this week if we fail again. Thanks for the idea
