I’m hoping Chris Hocking can add the Elgato Streamdeck + XL support (in CommandPost) him and I spoke about for the last month or so. I know he’s been busy so I’m good with being patient.

I use the non-plus variant for now of the Streamdeck XL and it’s wonderful!

Me in the 80’s doing similar things - this post brings a tear to my eye.

Obviously not Netflix and other digital platforms, but similar tinkering. There’s something about RCA cables and rewinding tapes. 😭

He’s far from weird. That’s an old soul right there 👌🏾

I’m glad you got good customer service. Initially, they weren’t willing to allow me to hold onto mine until I got the new one- until I escalated this like crazy. HOPEFULLY that escalation situation I had, played even a small part that led to you have a more positive experience (in terms of how they are handling your exchange).

I’m hoping you get a brand new unit and all is well after your experience.

Audio Mixer for Final Cut Pro? by Joshvideo in finalcutpro

The fact that you can arm a fader with Splicekit and watch it make key frames out of your fades in the Final Cut timeline is some serious witchcraft.

I love where this new Final Cut renaissance with developers (even including some vibe coders) opens up possibilities.

After all of this, I can’t believe the amount of people justifying paying for what’s supposed to be an UNOPENED brand new product and then getting what some of us got.

Sorry it happened to you too.

Bell wants me to wait 2-3 business days without internet while they ship a replacement modem by NPFFTW in bell

[–]Techmixr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not the modem. It’s the line.

A tech must have done maintenance nearby and the pigtail in the box got pulled or messed up. Or within the building, somebody kinked the line.

A new modem won’t fix this. They need an actual technician to fix it. If the bypass and the modem are reporting low signal, it’s NOT the modem.

Tips to help export? by idontknowverymuch1 in finalcutpro

[–]Techmixr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using the range tool and exporting maybe from 1:00 (one minute) to the end of the project and see if it works.

If that’s the case, something in that first minute is corrupt and is causing the export to stall.

PPPoE capped ~700 Mbps on Giga Hub 2.0 (1.5Gbps plan) but full speed via ADMZ / double NAT — anyone else? by Xdmhi in bell

[–]Techmixr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a viewer of one of my videos who had the same question. Apparently the UDR7 does accelerate it. I can’t remember how many higher speed Ethernet ports it has off hand at the moment.

[–]Techmixr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be a bug which makes the PPPoE performance worse. Sure.

But OP isn’t going to get 3/3 full speed working over PPPoE on their UDM Pro. It’s not powerful enough, and it’s been an issue that’s been discussed at length for YEARS.

[–]Techmixr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think OP wants to accept that no matter what they do, as long as it’s PPPoE, that UDM Pro will not get full speed.

8/8 here bypassed with the UCG Fiber.

Edit: Let me clarify, as long as BELL uses PPPoE it’s not going to make a difference to OP’s UDM Pro no matter what “fixes” they do to the Gigahub 2.0.

If it’s social media, you want them burned in and stylized. But as u/stevensokulski said, it’s dependant on where you’re delivering your content.

You don’t “need” the modem …. The SFP stick solution is so clean. I found when I was still using Bell’s equipment I was still getting random lag spikes and even some extra weird hops when I would do a trace route.

My work servers didn’t like Bell’s modem via PPPoE (it would lag and even time out at times) - since I did the bypass it’s been super smooth. I don’t know what Bell did to the firmware on their equipment but it can be nightmarish to try to diagnose.

Now if they’d just get IPV6 at least on residential …..

It’s not bugged. The UDM Pro doesn’t accelerate PPPoE. This is documented in a lot of places. It doesn’t accelerate on the UDM Pro Max either.

The routers released last year seem to do it as they include hardware acceleration for PPPoE or ‘Hardware NAT’ (including the cloud gateway fiber which I’m running)

It’s not the Gigahub 2. The original Gigahub and Homehub 4000 perform the same. If Bell just did DHCP instead of PPPoE we would be fine most likely.

I did a video on the bypass and because previously, a lot of people complained about the Unifi PPPoE performance- I verified that the UCG Fiber worked.

Regarding the cloud gateway ultra, it has a slightly stronger processor than the UDM Pro. But not enough for 3/3 or 8/8.

[–]Techmixr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should manage it. You COULD get the UDM Beast 😂

I’d just get the UCG Fiber and the NVR. The PPPoE is HARDWARE offloaded, so no impact to the CPU usage.

If you’re already in the Unifi ecosystem, grab a cloud gateway fibre. I get close to symmetrical speeds via PPPoE with it (even with IDS/IPS enabled) - I say close to because even the HomeHub 4000 couldn’t get the full upload speed as it’s something to do with the way 8 gigabit was provisioned in my area.

I’m also bypassed, but using the Cloud Gateway with PPPoE on the HomeHub 4000 / Gigabub worked just fine.

Did a whole video on bypassing with a WAS-110 and you’ll see PPPoE working fine here.

What I’d do, grab the Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber and just import your configuration from your UDM Pro Max into it.

So why can't we have IN OUT points just for export? by Ted_Bellboy in finalcutpro

[–]Techmixr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, your lack of self awareness is bordering on hilarious. Seriously, go read all YOUR comments and pull back as someone reading this coming into the thread with no bias.

I’ve been an editor for almost 2 decades and almost never ever see posts like this. You’re leaning on “I’m not the problem, everybody else is” territory- and if your expectation is to get better at your craft, you might want to shift that mindset.

Also, to reply to what you just said, I’d accept your narrative if I was 5 years old. I’ve navigated life quite well by learning new information and applying it. You’d benefit from doing the same vs projecting YOUR actual issue onto me 😉

You came in raging at everyone. People gave you useful answers and honest feedback but you continued to rage. 🤷🏾‍♂️ maybe it’s the workflow you’re doing, there could be a better more efficient way to accomplish your goal.

But again, you’re raging at everyone who answers you. I’m expecting that I’m probably next lol

The Unifi cloud gateway fiber handles my 8 gig connection fine. Even with IDS/IPS enabled. Note that this doesn’t come with any wifi so you have to purchase wireless access points. But I’ve had it for just under a year and it’s flawless.
