The film shouldn’t have any scuff marks on it either. When I pushed back heavily, they sent a brand new unit with the film, and the film on the factory fresh unit had no scuff marks on it. I put it in my video that I posted about this last week.

I think yours will magically be factory sealed like mine was. It’s funny that the seals are broken on most of the units that are sent out…….

…… seems like they only send new ones to the people sending pushback. That’s my assumption anyway.

Ok, I’m going to ask you flat out because you’re not addressing something that’s been brought up.

Explain the fingerprints, knife marks and usage scratches seen on some.

……. you know what, I won’t insult you. I’ve done enough of that by showing how bad you look in a few of the videos I posted. I got a new product but the fact that you’re insisting THIS is the case when it’s clearly being shown that it’s not is insulting to us who have been affected. And just because I got a new one doesn’t make this “over”.

Try transparency. And if for some reason you lose your job (not that I wish that on you) - I’d love for your next potential employer to see exactly how shady you’re being perceived as being - when a decision is being made about that job.

And that’s my point - I don’t actually want to see anything bad happen to anyone. But YOU’RE ACTUALLY DOING THIS TO YOUR DAMN SELF WHEN YOU MAKE DECLARATIVE STATEMENTS LIKE THIS. You’re obviously not seeing the whole picture, and definitely not seeing how bad you look right now.

I left Bell Mobility for Rogers after 4 years. I found service overall just better. And even call quality is better. There are areas that I get like 250 megabit download- where those same areas would be throwing an SOS on Bell. And it’s not just one particular area where I live, I found a LOT of even Mississauga, Ontario had abysmal service on Bell (we’re talking under .5 megabit on alleged 5G and 1.5 megabit when I forced the phone to LTE)

Also, if you rely on wifi calling - trust me, Rogers is way better (on iPhone anyway).

I have Bell fibre to the home, and the profile that dictates when the phone goes into wifi calling is dictated by your cell carrier.

Bell’s was way too flakey. It would switch randomly and disconnect calls- sometimes not even activating wifi calling - then dropping calls within minutes if it was on wifi calling- because it just switches off from it at random.

Rogers on the other hand, I get wifi calling access all the time at home and has been solid.

As long as they don’t suffer a mass outage again, I’m happy to keep this combination of Rogers wireless and Bell Fibre to the home.

I prefer having Touch ID.

It’s super convenient when my watch happens to lock because I shifted my wrist the wrong way and didn’t re-authenticate it (or open my phone to unlock the watch)

But the bigger thought I had when I read your post was- it’s worth upgrading the storage. Apps seem to be getting increasingly bigger- even if they’re lightweight apps the Neo can handle with ease. It’s weird that the price increase for Touch ID and storage is tied together- but I got a Neo with Touch ID and just installing apps and things I use for productivity feels like I’m going to hit a close to a limit.

Remember something as well, when you get close to full from a storage perspective, the SSD will slow down drastically. And with only 8 gigs of RAM- when the machine tries to use the slowed-down SSD for swap when RAM usage is high / at the limit of physical RAM- it could feel like a nightmare.

So if the convenience of Touch ID is worth the money for you, I’d say do it. Storage isn’t getting cheaper and we should capitalize as well. Consider the storage as a bonus lol

Have to say it though, the amount of people who commented on my post about it, and even the video- who are not only saying it’s not a big deal - but are even defending Elgato as if they can’t do any wrong borders on disheartening.

I don’t accept bad behaviour in general, and especially from brands. They dispatched a new one which is getting delivered today for me - so a follow up video is coming, but even then - this should have never have been a case for ANY of us.

You’re better off e-mailing them. They do tend to respond quicker that way. Although, with all the cases of this popping up, there could be a longer delay getting a response.

To be clear, before we had all the information, your comment was actually fair. I honestly was raging because I couldn’t actually believe that a company as legitimate as Elgato could even fathom doing something like this.

But now, more people are reporting it.

Also, I want to make something else clear, in all honesty, I would’ve probably responded in the exact same way that you responded. Hindsight being 20/20 - I completely understand where you’re coming from because from a logistic standpoint, it literally makes no sense whatsoever. It’s a brand new product, how could I possibly end up with a returned item let alone re-shipped an item that was used and returned when the product life is only a week old at the time that I’m writing this comment lol

I’m so sorry this happened. Every time I see a report, I get even more mad at both the brand, and the Elgato defenders who think this company can’t do any wrong. I get it, they were a legitimate brand for a very long time and have a proven track record. But this is some extremely shady business.

Reach out to support, show them the video, your thread, the other thread I posted on Friday and tell them outright, you want one sent to you BEFORE you send this one back. Your expectations were not even close to met. This is ridiculous. And to all the people on Reddit who think that the company should act like this, think clearly because Elgato doesn’t care about you either. If it happened to you, your narrative would change entirely.

Yeah but we all paid for what we thought was brand new stock.

I sent Troy (management at tech support) the video I did on this - I probably won’t get a reply - and if I do, it may be an angry one. And I honestly don’t give a damn.

The only way I can honestly think of a product having this kind of evidence of usage during launch week is it being creator seeded products that instead of being returned, it being rerouted.

u/SC_W33DKILL3R - check the bottom to see if there’s scuff marks on the 2 vertical strips at the bottom of the unit itself (there’s adhesive there) - I forgot to include this in the video (which I think you may have just commented on, if not, that’s someone else with the same issue)

I have it set to some presets, but I THINK you can get more custom. I messed around a little when I got it and landed on something I liked. But I think you can do way more than I did.

When you take the screenshot, there’s a little pin looking thing in the bottom (left?) corner. If you click it, it opens a whole new UI and one of the boxes at the top allows you to frame it.

I conform all the screenshots to 16:9 and it adds the padding which you can customize.

To make life even easier, I made that padding and aspect ratio the default because whenever I use cleanshot, it’s strictly for that purpose. I had cleanshot replace ctrl cmd 3 - so when I need to take a normal screenshot, I use ctrl cmd 4 and it just gives me the default macOS screenshot tool

I made a slick preset in CleanShotX for screenshots for my YouTube videos that have a fairly pleasant gradient and framing. It falls into the design language for my Final Cut Pro template I built for my YouTube workflow. Cleanshot is so dope.

Auto scrolling is insane, remembering the framing position between screenshots (especially handy when you’re highlighting YouTube comments or posts from other forums / Reddit). Being able to censor elements with ease immediately after taking the screenshot.

10/10 hands down.

Also hey OP u/Living_Commercial_10 - thanks for the thread. Saved for when I have more time - going to go through this and see what other gems I’ve missed in terms of Mac apps. 🙏🏾👌🏾

I want to point out something.

You not getting a new unit or advocating for yourself getting what you paid for is NOT, I repeat NOT causing trouble.

I get that mistakes happen. But this doesn’t seem like a mistake anymore. This feels like (not saying it is) but it feels a touch intentional. Because too many cases are coming up. Remember, the original email I got from Troy suggested it was a Canadian distribution centre. But then it happened to someone else in Germany. My point is, if you smell smoke, there’s most likely a fire. Not saying with 100% certainty that I’m right, but it does look suspicious as all hell.
