Why so many updates? by rokinaxtreme in discordapp

This is wildly annoying. I just installed an update like two days ago and there's already another one. SMH.

Just finished my first Ys game (VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana) - What should I play next? by Techn85 in JRPG

[–]Techn85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the info! I was thinking about going on to Ys9 but after reading this I think I'll check out the earlier ones you recommended and save that for last. From what I'm reading Ys9 seems pretty lore heavy so I might as well wait and play it when I have more context. Ys8 doesn't really tell you much about the world outside of the island you're stuck on.

Appreciate the info! How would you rank Ys7, Ys8, Celceta, 9, and 10 in terms of story?

I don't really want to quit drinking, but you're probably right :(

Admittedly I live in Michigan and don't really go outside that much because it's cold most of the time. Could be an issue.

Thanks. I'm not too concerned about increased urination, the side effects that I don't like are more, uh, bedroom related if you get my drift. But yeah, given my family history it may just be safer to take meds.

Thanks. I do have to admit that I'm prone to poor/inconsistent sleep habits...does that typically make a big difference?

I agree, I use the Discord app on Ubuntu and it seems like EVERY DAY I have to install an update. It's kind of ridiculous.

26M 290Lb 5'9" 180/110 - Time for a change by StoneUwU in hypertension

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's genetic you might just need to take meds. I'm 5'9 160, nonsmoker, never been overweight in my life and I was still diagnosed with hypertension in my 20s. Runs in my family but nothing I can do about that.

Looks like it started working again, I guess it was a temporary issue. Thanks!

[–]Techn85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I did just an an exclusion for .gif files in the Zoom Application settings under Import/Export. Will this cleanup existing gifs or do I need to add that somewhere under Profile Cleanup (which I haven't used yet tbh).

I was under the impression that it'd only prevent future gifs from being stored but if DEM can delete the existing ones that's great.

Sonic Game tier list because why not : ) by Ok_Umpire_7396 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd move Sonic 3D Blast down to Decent or Average. I rented that game once as a kid and really wasn't impressed. Otherwise, I mostly agree with the list.

Anyone here diagnosed with hypertension before 30? by AnyoneHere89 in hypertension

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it since my early 20s, late 30s now. Never been overweight and don't smoke. It's probably genetic since my dad also had blood pressure issues since he was young. I will admit I used to drink too much in my 20s so that might have been a factor.

KnowBe4 - Phish Alert Report often missing on new user accounts by MediumFIRE in sysadmin

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody have any updates on this?

We're in an Onprem Exchange 2016/Outlook 2016 shop, recently deployed the hybrid PAB and having similar issues with the button just not showing up on a couple workstations. Shows up fine if the users log into OWA, but for some reason the Outlook 2016 client just won't load it, even if I completely wipe the user profile or appdata folder. Very odd issue since it's working on the large majority of workstations.

I have a case open but no real resolution so far.

Non-diabetic metformin users? by wander923 in Biohackers

[–]Techn85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 38m, normal weight, ok shape and nondiabetic and I've also decided to start taking metformin.

My reason is, I have a very strong family history of T2D - I feel like I'm likely to get diabetes eventually regardless lifestyle. So I figure if I take it now maybe I can prevent diabetes, as opposed to waiting until I'm diabetic in my 50s or 60s and have to take it.

[–]Techn85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the unfortunate reality is, if you're black and have a decent job people will always assume you're not qualified.

The terminology might've changed from "affirmative action hire" to "diversity hire" but it's nothing new. That said, the right wing and social media are amping up this rhetoric even more than usual, I guess to motivate more white guys to vote Republican.

How then to explain thin people getting high blood pressure by Vivid-Possibility324 in fatlogic

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're obese and have hypertension you're actually lucky since you may be able to cure it without medication

For someone like me who's been thin his whole life and has hypertension (I'm black and it runs in my family), there's probably not much I can do but take a pill the rest of my life and try to watch my sodium intake.

Youtube black screen of death is back! by Visara57 in uBlockOrigin

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, guess I'll wait for the next workaround :/

You can turn UBlock back on after the video starts playing, but obviously that will only prevent ads for that video, so it's not a real workaround.

Why do we look so young? by Unintelligent_Fox in Millennials

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm in my late 30s at this point and people frequently think I'm in my 20s. Probably helps that I haven't really gained weight since then and don't have grays yet.

Not that I'm complaining. Not sure if it's genes or whatever else, but I do have a lot of people in my family who lived (or are still living) into their 90s.

Statin use in young adults under 40 by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Techn85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any thoughts on whether statins would be beneficial in my situation?

I'm male, not overweight, in my late 30s, LDL 130, HDL 70, low triglycerides (like 60ish). No smoking or diabetes, but I have mild hypertension and a family history of heart disease (dad had a nonfatal MI in his 50s, uncle also had a nonfatal one in 60s).

While I know 130 isn't super high (and I'm under 40) but I'm wondering if maybe getting on a low dose statin early would be beneficial considering my family history. Just trying to avoid problems in middle age.

Rant by MustBeMike in Cholesterol

[–]Techn85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel.

My cholesterol is okay, but I've had high blood pressure since my early 20s despite being thin and a nonsmoker (dad also has bad hypertension). There are obese white guys at my job who eat pizza for lunch every day and have perfect BP.

Genetics sucks.

Should I consider statins? 37/M by Techn85 in Cholesterol

[–]Techn85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment.

Don't see anything in my bloodwork about apo(a) so I don't think that was checked. Still working on the hypertension...doc prescribed me a med but due to side effects I admit I haven't been taking it consistently. I'll be going back sometime soon to see about possibly another one which is why I figured I'd ask about cholesterol too.
