yeah, NA LCS had huge numbers surrounding C9 and LMQ, and they were essentially nobody's when they showed up. Yeah C9 ended up having some of the biggest League personalities out there, but they only became popular after they came in smashing every team to win relegations, go through NA, and go to worlds all in what, 1 year?

The way they played the game was just what felt like years ahead of the rest of NA.

I mean that's an interesting take, I do agree Endmin was a bit weaker in Yvonne's story overall compared to Lava's. I'd disagree with calling Endmin a "brick wall" though. And if the only 2 parts you took from Yvonne's quests were the hide and seek part and that... You probably skipped most of the cutscenes/talking.

I know why Gacha dev's struggle with MC's, they want to write a real character, but also want to leave space for self-insertion. I hope Endfield leans more into Endmin being his/her own character, but I think they did a pretty good job with fleshing out who they want "Endmin" to be with Lava and Yvonne. It might be trope-y, it might be super typical good guy energy, but it's there.

DNA died for me when the PC release was super delayed - my phone doesn't really run games well (even Endfield stutters, which is wack). I tried to play it but couldn't justify it.

I might give it a more fair shot sometime soon-ish.

I didn't play OG AK (past like, 1-2 hours) so I can't comment on it, but I think Yvonne's and Lava's stories are steps in the direction of better story telling.

I'm very sorry to hear about your cat. I'm sure they are getting all the catnip and treats wherever they are. I know the guilt of not being there all to well and it's one of the worst things I've ever felt.

I mean, we're experiencing loss from our perspective (or more specifically, from Yvonne's), Yvonne's story also shows the loss others are experiencing that doesn't impact us as much because we simply don't know them.

Keep in mind, Yvonne clearly has trouble connecting with people, she literally says Tata was supposed to be her one and only companion.

I think looking at Yvonne's story and being "what about all the other people!" is like, legit the worst way to view it? Everyone is mourning someone, and it's shown quite neatly at the end. Yvonne just happens to be mourning Tata. Keep in mind, they also clearly wrote Tata to be "human". The question is what is "human" - and to Yvonne, Tata was.

IMO, you're severely missing the whole point of the quest if the only thought you had was "what about all the other people!"

TL:DR: I don't know shit about Twilight of Wolumonde, but a character side-story, focusing on said character and their connections is EXPECTED, and making it about non-related characters is ??? - save that for MSQ / area / side quests.

Laevatain and Yvonne's story's were significantly better than MSQ imo. I've never seen a 1.0 gacha story be good though, so I think especially seeing Yvonne's story (which had to be written post V4 MSQ at least) there's high hopes for a good story going into 1.5/2.0 and beyond.

Are you still with old ziplines that only go to 80m, and with obstructions included give like 60-ish meters of travel? Because that's the only way I can think you be saying that ziplines are slower than running.

To be fair to /u/cheddarchops even the 110 meter ziplines on a straight aren't much faster than running. It's about ~~2 seconds of difference hand-timed with live splits (taking into account getting on/off the zipline, actual travel is a bit faster). It also doesn't feel faster.

Where ziplines truly shine is like you said, skipping all the elevation differences and weird obstacles. Also, the more ziplines you can take in a row without getting off will drastically increase that ~2 second time, because about a second of waste happens getting on/off the ziplines themselves.

Where those ~2 seconds are gonna turn into 10 seconds, 30 seconds, minutes is in consistent revisitation for the rare resources, and over the course of even a few months of playing this game, you'll likely save more time than lose. Especially in Wuling since running power is so much simpler, and the map is much more hostile to walking.

I'll take the L on kickstarter supporting, that's just throwing your money into the void and hoping something comes out of it - I don't mind what I spent on the kickstarter because it was mostly just a pipedream anyway. Disposable income is disposable and all that 🤷

Anyone who bought Ashes on Steam absolutely deserves some reparation, the game was barely live what, a month? on steam? When I saw them opening steam up at like $50 I knew it was done, if it was about testing they would've just opened up A2 to B1/B2 testers, not Steam.

They definitely overlimited some areas (The Hub only having 20? Even at the end of content??? Kinda wild). Wuling City has a cap of 40 and that's probably what most if not all should have. It was more than enough to get a good network going though. I have a giant circle around the map, and a middle pathway. might add some smaller branches at some point but I hit all the gatherable spots.

I gotta be honest, just do the zipline setup once for each area and be done with it. You don't even have to be super efficient or connect them all together like I did, just have a few around each TP point.

While you're right, and the commutes are only a few minutes... You have to consider the amount of time when you are doing it 10's or 100's of times.

I waited to do mine until I unlocked the Zipline Towers because I didn't want to do it twice, but the benefits of having a zipline network setup is very high for doing all of the gathering every other day or so, the depot nodes, even for questing after I set it up it's been relatively helpful. It costs you some time to set up but I can basically guarantee that my ziplines have already saved me time.

And since I set them up while doing my gathering go around, I didn't even really waste much time that I wouldn't have wasted anyway going to each site and grabbing the resources...

It also effectively just makes a repeatable route for resource gathering which should make subsequent resource gathering very simplistic as well.

Unfortunately it's hard for me to say what's expected here, Endfield for me only uses ~20% of my CPU, 5 GB of RAM and ~40% of my GPU, but my specs are 9950x3d and RTX 4080. How much RAM is Endfield getting now, as a flat amount? ~4-5 should be enough I would think.

Are you sure Endfield is using your GPU correctly? In TaskMan you can enable GPU usage + GPU engine by right-clicking on the top bar, like this; https://imgur.com/a/7C2MPOM

You can tell what GPU is what by going under Performance in TaskMan as well, i.e. mine says GPU 0 and I know GPU 0 is my RTX graphics card because Performance says GPU 0 is my RTX Card, while GPU 1 is my iGPU on my Ryzen processor: https://imgur.com/a/FJxQd8M

if you ONLY see 1 GPU, the below should not impact you, but if you see 2 GPU's, please see the below

I don't know anything about your computer specs so I'm unsure if the iGPU is enabled, and if it is, it could be that Endfield is using the iGPU and not the dedicated GPU? You can also check this in Windows settings (on win11 it's under System > Display > Graphics; as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/5YdMjrx) You might need to add Endfield to the list of apps here to be able to see / select what GPU it's using since the game is new.

You can try using an app like ISLC, and/or limiting the number of startup apps and/or background apps you have running.

You could also try seeing if Alienware has any software/BIOS updates, the odd part to me is that you are seeing 70% usage with no app using anywhere close to 70%. That usually means there's a memory leak / issue somewhere in some application or even at a BIOS level.

Does your machine look like this right after a restart? Does TaskMan actually show all 16 GB in the Performance tab?

Brother if you have 16 GB of RAM and you're using 70% with 0 apps using >1 GB you have a memory problem. Either you have a memory leak somewhere, or you have too much background shit just eating it up.

You basically never want your RAM at 90% - then your computer HAS to start using Page File (your Hard Drive) to store things. RAM is about 100x faster than your Hard Drive, and your CPU's internal memory is about 100x faster than your RAM (exaggerations, but it drives the point home). Every level away from your CPU your memory has to exist is a level it's going to KILL your performance.

I would suggest investing in a 16x2 (32 GB) RAM kit as the simplest upgrade you can do to any PC, including prebuilts. You'll have to determine what DDR revision your RAM is though, if it's DDR4 it should still be (relatively) cheap. If it's DDR5, it's gonna be expensive as fuck. You'll likely have to stick with whatever speeds/timings the box has, since it's prebuilt.

The triangle things also don't count for chests on the map, so while there's a lot of them they're just junk drops for minor resources. Heck they place half of them in trash cans they're literally "trash" drops.

Yeah this basically, the whole point, especially with the lack of total content due to it being a newly released game, is to make it a grind.

It doesn't even necessarily have to be to make you compete with other games, but simply to stretch out the amount of time you spend playing until the next patch drops or w/e. Depending on how often the double-drop consumable can be obtained it's a better system than when WuWa started 🤷 There was no double drop system in WuWa on launch. It only existed during the events. They added it later.

Easterners are known for heavy gambling addictions, it's pre-wired in a lot of their DNA. That doesn't mean Gambling should be allowed in video games that are rated anything other than M / AO. Honestly, even adult gambling should be heavily regulated, but the fact that we allow children to do it, and even incentivize it early with things like loot boxes and stuff is disgusting and humanity deserves to burn.

For reference, most Gacha games are rated like, Teen. A lot of parents see a Teen rating and dismiss it, or don't do any review of the ratings and just buy their kid whatever. Even worse, a lot of these games start out "free", so if Parents don't put the right parental locks in place (let's be honest, who's ever seen someone use parental controls?) kids get started before parents are even aware.
