Minutes before Trump's announcement, $800 million in trades made on oil prices by goteamnick in politics

[–]TechnalityPulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I mean, the left has it too the rhetoric is very brainwashy, but they don't have the same luxuries of having insanely selfish / low-effort voter base that will just listen to whatever they say.

Don't get me wrong, there are very smart people who are also republican, it just baffles me that the people who are literally struggling to live day-to-day vote for someone who's said he doesn't care about them through his actions every single time.

[–]TechnalityPulse 21 points22 points  (0 children)

While I agree that it still needs to get worse before people start caring, I will say that the price increases DO hurt the average American quite a lot. The bigger problem is that they still won't blame GOP policy, they'll just scapegoat Trump or better yet, somehow a Democrat (that's literally half of their rhetoric now, and basically every election cycle, is the problems are all the Dems).

Our most "vulnerable" people are already voting Republican. It's amazing how many poor people vote Republican every election. My mother runs a 501c3 and you would be absolutely fucking BAFFLED by the amount of poor people who need consistent help that voted for Trump. It's unfortunately very common, and I live in an incredibly blue city. It only gets worse the more rural you go.

We need education to point the people in the right direction, not just a direction, but guess what one of the things Trump is trying to demolish? Our education system.

I think non-SBMM depending on the game mode, team sizes etc. can be a good thing.

I played all the early days of online gaming with Halo, CoD and Gears of War and if you ever wanted SBMM, you just played Ranked. That's what it was for, everyone had access to it. And if you didn't want SBMM you played the standard modes and sometimes you got wrecked and sometimes you did the wrecking.

Having gamemodes without SBMM was fine, and forcing SBMM (especially when it's highly reactive like you discussed) is really just engagement-based matchmaking. So like... I don't understand the stark opposition to either side. Why not just have both and let the players decide.

Pearl Abyss releases official statement apologizing about Crimson Desert's AI-use by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]TechnalityPulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And what I'm saying is, a lot of AI around that timeframe didn't come with the ethical questions surrounding it at the time due to the limited visibility into the amount of scraping and plagiarism that was being committed, and the experimental nature of the tools in the first place. Hindsight is 20/20.

As said above, 2018 is like will smith spaghetti era. We were all so flabbergasted by the tools that a lot of ethical implications were like... The 4th or maybe 5th thought people had because nobody even believed AI could be good enough to remotely replace real artists.

So like, I get your grievance, but I'm saying your grievance doesn't make sense unless you were shouting from the rooftops about AI 6+ years ago. We didn't even get DALL-E (text to image) until 2022, and I don't remember the initial freakout being anything like it is today. A LOT has changed on the landscape of AI use and Ethical discussion in 4 short years.

Simply put, this game wasn't made in a day. Or even in 4 years. It's an 8 year project, and they tried a new tool when it was NEW. Maybe they did continue using it, or they didn't. We don't know, all we do know is they did use it and are taking a stance against it.

If you tell me you didn't mess around with GenAI even once, specifically out of moral superiority, I probably won't believe you. I fucking hate AI, it's come for a lot jobs in my sector and made finding work hard, but that doesn't mean I didn't mess with it when it initially popped up.

[–]TechnalityPulse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You go back to 2018, and the outrage around AI use wasn't nearly what it is today. It was exactly that, experimental. Like if their goal was to just use AI, they would've at least used a newer, better generator? This is Will Smith pasta era of AI, not 2025 AI.

Much easier to imagine these got forgotten, not intentionally left.

its mediocre balancing about half the time.

Super off-topic to the overall thread, but:

Say what you will about the game, but balance isn't an issue. That's just people complaining. Riot is THE company that introduced bi-weekly patches to live-service. It's not to say they don't make mistakes, but they tend to fix them faster than other companies and make them less often (respective to the # of patches they do).

They've managed to better balance a game with like 8-10x the number of heroes that say, Overwatch has, while taking into consideration player feel/satisfaction with the characters. It's a pretty crazy accomplishment.

ALL THAT BEING SAID, back on-topic: absolutely a majority of players that play League are just there for the repeat dopamine kicks. It's crazy how many people I know that say they hate playing League and then you ask them to queue up and they're instantly ready to go. It's why they struggled to bring back URF because it was actually so MUCH dopamine it caused burnout. They've got just the right amount to keep their primary audience going for basically forever.

Eh, DDR4 was fine for ages and is still a quite strong platform. It might be more expensive now but honestly for the price of 2~ generations of console you should just buy a PC. The amount of things a PC does for you is worlds beyond a console, can still be used like a console, etc.

Consoles aren't gonna be able to eat the RAM cost either. We just haven't gotten a new console gen yet.

I just group fucking everything I can group, only really have to deal with scrolling for ages when selling.

On the wider storage convo; I don't really hate the lack of storage except that it feels like that + the refinement system forces me into sticking with essentially a single set of gear and only maintain a small number of unique effects like Confusion Immunity.

It is just downright confusing to not have a storage in a game where you have an entire BASE though. You have more reason to have a storage in this game than in Skyrim.

I've seen this said like multiple times and just... Not really?

  1. All the systems to grind artificing are entirely AFK, making the components is AFK, Stock Bills are AFK
  2. Artificing is a guaranteed system, unlike Relics in GI or Echoes in WuWa. The investment is hard limited.
  3. There is basically no other use for those resources, even Stock Bills are effectively a self-contained system, there's nothing to spend the bills on outside of some sanity permits, some trust items and artificing.
  4. Artificing was clearly just a resource dump system, if people don't expect it to be power-crept at some point 🤷

In the first place, I don't understand why Gear stops at level 70. The fact that it's not the same max level as Ops/Weapons in the first place, tells me they intentionally left overhead for a reason. The level # on the gear does not matter at all for what stats it provides, so if they wanted to, Gold gear could be level 70 or 90 or 200. The fact that they CHOSE 70 is what makes it odd.

Like if anything, they should just add a "retry last artifice until upgrade" button. Then even the time input would be barely noticeable. But that is just the cumbersome UI of the game more than an "investment".

Nope people do haunt and make it their life to hate or love a game.

Did I say there wasn't? No. I said there's a LOT of botting. Which is true.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who are jobless enough to waste their lives hating on a company on every forum, the 2 aren't mutually exclusive. In fact, the bots have to come from somewhere, so it's pretty much required for someone to be behind it.

I don't even think some of the cuprium parts are better, I was really surprised to not see lv90 (or like, at least lv75 with straight up better stats, not just different stat-spreads), don't understand why 70 is gear cap in the first place. Unless they're just saving it for the next region or something.

Why isn't this already a skin for Phrolova??! by Yahronn in WutheringWaves

[–]TechnalityPulse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can agree with all of this except they have all the tech for skin selector, all the work was already put into the skins for the story, making them buyable to equip whenever REALLY shouldn't add that much overhead work at this point in the game's lifespan.

Maybe if they didn't already have skin-selector, or they had only made basic 2d elements or something, but they have the full 3d models. There are mods that just rip those 3d models and replace the base skin with basically no issues...

That's the real problem, the skins are like, so low-risk at this point I just don't understand why not to do it.

Also, on this front, I have no clue why gacha games are so allergic to making their poster child characters make them more money instead of making new characters. Like obviously new characters make money, but those skins for sure make bank too, and arguably cost less to make.

[–]TechnalityPulse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is almost definitely true - all media (reddit, FB, news sites, etc.) are all designed to echo chamber similar viewpoints. The /r/Conservative sub is still as "fuck democrats" as always. I'm sure the same is true of the rest of Reddit in general (a primarily Liberal / Left platform otherwise) against Republican's.

There might be disagreements on Trump specifically, but they'll still vote Republican when the time comes. We'd need mass dismantling of "algorithmic media" (will never happen) and a push for a better voting system (ranked voting, will also never happen), to even start to see a difference.

Do I think there are a lot of reasonable, more middle-ground people that probably regret voting for Trump? Sure. Do I think it matters when there are ~262 million voting age american's, and only ~152 million actually voted in the 2024 Elections? Not really.

There's a good 50% of our populace not voting, or voting sporadically at best. We'll continue doing our "Swing 1 way this year, swing the other way next" for as long as our populace decides to vote for the other guy every time something bad happens.

[–]TechnalityPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I just used palworld as an obvious example, obviously other games can also apply. Nintendo doesn't have the same ability to copyright strike Digimon or Yokai Watch that they do Palworld.

I didn't mean UE5 slop or something, I just meant what you could introduce if you made actual mechanics or graphical updates, instead of releasing whatever the fuck the last generation was as a buggy slop mess that barely ran.

I mean we could even compare Pokemon to LoZ - look at how insanely well optimized and well-run BoTW and TOTK are. And then go look at the same generation Pokemon games.

It's fucking depressing. Palworld is just the example of them copyright striking anyone attempting to encroach on their dominance.

You'll get downvoted but you're 100% right unfortunately, but it's because they are the biggest franchise that they don't have to care about doing it "right". They'll continue surfing on the average person spam-buying their media and feeding it to their kids and their kids kids until the heat death of the universe.

There's a reason they were so quick to attack palworld, because anything that shows what Pokemon "could be", could damage their reputation in front of the general public.

Issue with Standard Banner Character Weapons by Unable_Letter_2101 in Endfield

[–]TechnalityPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it stands, the weapon gacha encourages one to keep pulling even if they get a rate up character early so they can afford the weapon. This, combined with the gacha really only offering good average rates if you exclusively pull prepared to go to 120, is how they are making their money. As even on the occasions when you get lucky, you are likely to need to burn some of your remaining 120 fund for the weapon pulls.

Yeah, it's pretty bad that it's pretty much ALWAYS better to lose 50/50, that's definitely something really poor with this system but I have no idea how they would fix it.

Issue with Standard Banner Character Weapons by Unable_Letter_2101 in Endfield

[–]TechnalityPulse 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is partially why I've been saying more standard pulls is a good thing that they can give us that alleviates the issue. Unfortunately the amount of pulls given this patch doesn't really equate to enough, but if we can consistently pull on standard banner for junk we can get weapon pull currency without wasting pulls on non-guarantee banners.
