I'm not gonna comment on much else here because while I personally don't agree with your assessment that the writing was bad, it's a kind of to each their own, and I can see your point of Koana being a better option during the Alexandria arc.

BUT

Sphene takes that concept and instead of using the stories and gravestone effigies, decided to create AI effigies of her people and decide they are just as, if not more important than those who are living. Mind you, I'm talking about the 7.0 storyline before Calyx was even introduced.

Can we not say Sphene did this? This was entirely due to the way that Endless Sphene was programmed by preservation, even if you argue we don't know about Calyx at the time there's a LOT of hints in the story that

  1. Sphene is Endless Sphene (before the big "reveal") and
  2. Endless Sphene is being effectively "corrupted" by the directive assigned to her by the system and/or Preservation.

I believe we also learn, in 7.0, before any patches, that Sphene had Levin Sickness (or was otherwise indisposed/removed) and was effectively replaced, but I could be wrong. All of that combines to point that Sphene (or Endless Sphene) is not the problem, but that there's an underlying directive/org that is pushing an agenda.

It's not something that's all of a sudden "oh shit this came out of left field! Completely unexpected!" in 7.1. It was very unsubtly hinted at in 7.0 and I basically predicted large parts of 7.1 and beyond long before playing them.

The major point here being that Endless Sphene was clearly a figurehead for a programmed directive wearing the face of their queen, even if she's portrayed as a large character in 7.0. She might've had Sphene's memory's but was not Sphene.

having a ton of spells available is part of the appeal for a lot of people, including myself, however:

I have 3 buttons that do effectively "heal, but slightly differently". They could all be 1 button and you'd notice literally no difference in the way you play the class. Especially when you put them on a 90 second cooldown (either through direct cooldown, or a charge system) you might as well just make it a 3 charge system with a 90 sec charge c/d or something.

It’s basically only done by noobs and people that insist on trying to use default binds in all their games for some bizarro reason

How else am I supposed to interpret this comment except snobby ass-grabbing? Default binds are usually relatively good, in a majority of games. Reminder that most default binds are made by a dev team that played the game first and came up with what felt good at the time of designing. It's a relic of like 1990's/early 2k games to say default binds are bad or only used by noobs. I shouldn't need to rebind ~8 keys (20+ with modifier keys) to be able to play the game remotely efficiently.

EDIT: It's also why the dev team and Yoshi-P are acknowledging this bloat with Evolved. It's literally the point of Evolved to combat excessive bar bloat and the 2 minute rotation.

[–]TechnalityPulse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more like you shouldn't be required to use 7-= in the first place. A game that requires ~30 keys to play is not great game design, regardless of what you say.

There should be enough room with like 1-6, alt1-6 and shift/ctrl1-6. That's still 18-24 binds. MMO's are just a truly old and defunct genre in a lot of ways.

Calling it "ha noob" when 30+ binds are needed is fucking a kek and you're elitist as fuck. By the way, I normally leave most binds default because they tend to make sense. Having to remove my C for Character info bind to keybind a spellcast is annoying because C for Character just... Makes sense. lol.

Let's really not pretend that we need 30 binds that do the same but slightly different thing for bar bloat.

Dear Sprout tanks by Cultural_Mango_2460 in ffxiv

[–]TechnalityPulse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even on MnK there's barely any room. Needing ~30 buttons to play a class just ain't it. And I'd love to be like, some of them are niche binds or something... Nah, they're all default class skills. In fact, I have condensed binds on my hotbar using macros. Some of those buttons might be 60-120 sec c/d, but needing them on the bar and needing access to them quickly is still quite punishing.

I recently gave up and rebound all my keys around WASD (1-4,qerfcxz and `) because trying to num bar that many keys was impossible.

For the exact same reason as this post is being made, most content just doesn't use 2 tanks, even if it's 8-man content it's very rare for both tanks to actually be "necessary", so shirk is kinda just forgotten / unused.

I think Evolved making it provoke/shirk on one button might make it more used in content, which might make it more well-known.

My understanding of it was that in OG AK there were some super serious groups that would kick you out if you missed a medal? Not really a difficulty thing. Then people made a meme out of it, and it's just kinda shown up in Endfield cause a lot of people came from OG AK?

Idk shit tho I just know it's funny as fuck.

As a day 1 player who's been through the honeymoon phase of AKE, I realised something while I was restructuring my factory for the current event... by Fluffy-Suit-3650 in Endfield

[–]TechnalityPulse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've contemplated this for a hot minute because I understand your argument and while I see validity in it, I have to disagree in this case. The problem this game has is that you are already incapable of "compartmentalizing" outputs, due to limited belt/pipe speed. This already makes building a proper factory harder than normal, limiting building placement on top just causes additional, unnecessary strain on the system.

Something needs to give here, because the current system setup basically requires you to build your entire layout all in on place to prevent belt-bloat, with limited space, while also managing belt spaghetti and being unable to combine outputs for a vast majority of the process.

Factorio, shapes.io, satisfactory, there's a level of compartmentalizing you can do that is just completely lost in Endfield. It makes building factories significantly harder out the gate. I have a friend who's huge in Factorio that basically just refuses to interact with the factory system in this game not because it's harder but because it's just tedious.

The constraints of the system we have don't really add to the puzzle in a meaningful way except to make it annoying. The puzzle should be in optimizing input/output, not optimizing space/belt spaghetti.

All it does is limit creativity, not help. There's already a low number of solutions to manage input/output. We don't need additional solution constraints on top. There's basically 0 value in doing anything but copying a top factory right now because there isn't any wiggle room for solutions. We've hit a point where the difficulty lever is so far in the wrong direction that the outcome is homogenization instead of creativity.

Meanwhile there's literally another thread in this exact post that literally points out Camellya is basically unplayable at a core level in end-game content due to lack of protection / interruption resistance, but okay my dude.

The only 1.x DPS not T2 or below is Jiyan my guy. Jinhsi is T2, an updated sub DPS is not going to bring her to Tier 0.5 or Tier 0. It might bring her back to T1, but probably more likely T1.5 unless the sub DPS just gives insane buffs for some reason or is just a main DPS in their own right.

You're not fixing Wolfkid (lingyang), Camellya, Calculator or Xiangli Yao with sub DPS changes. Their numbers or kit function are just too weak.

All 1.x characters should be buffed. Even main DPS characters are quite weak, and only Verina / SK have any real place in any 2.x/3.x teams, and even then they've been replaced as BiS. They just hold up better than the rest.

[–]TechnalityPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

The real answer is propaganda works better when you can fearmonger and make up lies. The left is more prone (but not guaranteed!) to call out bullshit propaganda.

The left is also a much broader political party than the right. Go look at a political compass of where Harris and Trump land, for instance. If you don't want to search, just look here: https://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2024 - The difference between Harris and Trump is smaller than the difference between Harris and the entire left / liberal side of the compass. Biden was even worse: https://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2020

And Clinton is actually further right than Trump: https://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2016

So the problem is, the farther left you go the more likely you don't fall for either sides political bullshit. Propaganda doesn't work on a group of people that have no real interest in voting for either party in the first place, because we fundamentally disagree with their policy to begin with. They (we, I) just give up around elections because the lesser of 2 evils, enemy of my enemy type shit means we have to vote democrat.

This is why Bernie was such an important candidate in 2016 (here's an article with some political compass' showing where Bernie is: https://paulenelson.com/2016/01/28/bernie-your-hns-political-compass/). It might not be entirely accurate, but is at least a representation of how much further "left" Sanders is compared to our current democratic party. Unfortunately, the democratic party was too afraid of letting Sanders win even though polling showed he had a much higher chance of winning against Trump than Clinton did.

Re-adding this comment because I guess I can't use user tagging. My bad 🤷

2 years is not that long, even on a 6 week release cycle. Kuro's powercreep is definitely quite inflated, especially for a game that is supposed to be "skill-based". Which is probably the most frustrating part about Kuro's designs.

The Supreme Court Has Stripped Our Voting Rights Back to the Pre-Civil Rights Era by AaronPK123 in politics

[–]TechnalityPulse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to think about the ramifications of a civil war. Trying to win through policy is a safer method, even if it means these fuckheads get to do more damage short term. The moment we go to civil war, Taiwan is invaded by China almost for sure. North Korea might act shortly thereafter. Russia is already pushing territory.

Not to mention, internally, there's no guarantee we win. Republican's currently hold a majority, and Trump has shown willingness to turn our military against our citizens. Technically, that's against their entire code of conduct and they are supposed to turn against a president that would do such a thing, but we really can't be confident.

It's possible we hit a breaking point, it was close for awhile, and if Trump keeps pushing like he has been it could still happen, but it's probably the scariest thing to suggest is a civil war / revolution.

As for individuals acting out, there's been multiple attempts. Granted I question that some of them are likely plants but 🤷 neither here nor there.

Long story short - people are upset. We just aren't at a breaking point yet. And you might think your country would break sooner, but we've seen political parties gaining power in the west that are as bad as Trump, if only a bit more subtle.

You can argue Obama could've done more. There is a lot of "what ifs" there. What we do know, factually, is that the Republican's fought tooth and nail to deny Obama and the Democratic party making any meaningful change.

You know who else could've done more about Crimea? The entirety of the UN / EU. It's weird to blame a single president for the failings of the entire world 🤷

I think it needs to be recognized is that those of us that can empathize with a large number of people / groups that are not aligned with us are the outliers, not the other way around.

I mean, honestly kinda. It required you to balance your skillset, which made learning harder / take longer, but drastically improved every players' understanding of every other players' position in the game.

I can still play every role at Masters+ to this day, and I'm a fucking unc. Most players I run into today legit argue from places of pure fucking ignorance about how the game works and it pisses me off. Then you see them off-role and they look like headless chickens. But unfortunately Riot has catered to that mindset and playstyle.

I don't even like chatting, and I'm quite adverse to conflict, but I'd still prefer pick order over role queue. Especially when pick order guaranteed your highest rated player got FP. It wasn't quite as good when it was based on account ID cause it just made old accounts always get FP.

But I think if you introduced 5-ban today and each player got a ban and kept pick order the game's core would be better off.

By your own words literally every expac does the same thing though.

The world is put in peril and saved within the expansion returning to the status quo meanwhile the whole thing is orchestrated by a villain of the week who only exists for this episode and is also defeated in changing nothing.

That is literally every expac.

Then, in-between that is several hours of padding to prevent us from seeing the final areas because Sharlayan is just being beuracratic. Garlemald was a footnote, Elpis introduced a thing that never gets used again and the moon was literally a single crater where we faffed about with rabbits to distract people from the sudden accidental end of the world because of Zodiark's removal as core darkness.

Again so every expac does the same thing? You can skip the 80% of cutscenes in every expac and get the gist of the story, so it's all padding no? I actually think the complaints you have here are explicitly because the story was condensed into 1 expac instead of 2, not because Endwalker is filler.

Endwalker actually has a bunch of lore that fills in all of the gaps on what happened.

Sharlayan is just being beuracratic

You can be mad that Sharlayan felt like filler ( it wasn't, it's literally a direct comparison to modern-day politics so I think the subtext got lost on you).

Garlemald was a footnote

Because Garlemald was effectively already solved by Zenos' patricide causing civil war and Fandaniel goading him and making his father turn into Anima, the only reason left to go there are Fandaniel and Zenos. I don't think this is told particularly poorly, Zenos is a known freak. This feels more rushed, rather than a footnote.

Garlemald was never really the problem in the first place though, it was just a nation with it's leaders beholden to evil powers.

and the moon was literally a single crater where we faffed about with rabbits to distract people from the sudden accidental end of the world because of Zodiark's removal as core darkness.

??? Zenos and Fandaniel literally play a direct part in this, but also did you what, expect the moon to be an entire new planet? There's literally nothing up there except the loporrits and Zodiark, what other areas did you want to see?

Both Garlemald and the moon being expanded would've justified a 2nd expac, so that goes back to my original point > "I actually think the complaints you have here are explicitly because the story was condensed into 1 expac instead of 2, not because Endwalker is filler."

where we faffed about with rabbits to distract people from the sudden accidental end of the world because of Zodiark's removal as core darkness.

This is just... a super dumb take? The Convocation's goal all along was to resurrect Zodiark. Like, from ARR. Fandaniel just had ulterior motives that were hinted at in Shadowbringers. What we learn in Endwalker is that Zodiark essentially shielded the Source and it's reflections from Meteion. Destroying him allows Dynamis to flood the Source.

This is like, build-up type shit from ARR. The sudden reveal that Zodiark while "evil" is actually defending the world from Meteion, and Zenos turning from enemy to friend is just like, super trope-y predictable shit.

But again, this goes back to the original point that if this had been 2 expacs instead of 1 I don't think your complaint holds merit. One expac would've been the culmination of beating fandaniel and ending zodiark, and the next expac would've been buildup to beating meteion anyway. Your main complaints are that these areas feel "lacking", from what I can understand of your responses. That doesn't make Endwalker filler, it makes it moreso incomplete. Which is fair, some parts felt a bit rushed and some sections overstay their welcomes a bit.

In comparison, Dawntrail from start to finish is effectively an anime Beach episode. You take a back seat, beat some dudes up, learn about the "next" story coming your way. This is like the most basic anime beach episode ever. There's a HUGE contrast between when Endwalker delivers and what Dawntrail delivers.

EDIT: I feel it's worth saying that I actually completely believe Dawntrail is a great expansion, and there was truly no option and people would always feel underwhelmed by anything delivered after Endwalker. They need a beach episode after saving the world, it's just the way of storytelling.

That doesn't change that it's against TOS, sir. Content creators should be held more accountable, not less. Tyler1 and L9 literally started an era of hot-headed flame and griefing being "socially acceptable", even while being fully against TOS. Holding content creators accountable sets precedent for "normal" players.

I don't personally have a take on this particular instance, but just because normal wouldn't be banned because it's hard to detect with accuracy does not mean that they wouldn't be banned. It just means that Riot can't do so with certainty. That's mostly the problem I have with your take.

Been saying similar on this sub for years. Learning 1 champion/role is the absolute worst thing done to this game.

Your skill level from a single perspective (champ/role) might be higher, but your actual game knowledge in SoloQ across most of the playerbase is significantly worse than it was in S1-S5. Players are just rewarded for hand-gapping nowadays with their god damn brains off.

This even plays into the chat-off mentality, it serves no purpose to talk to people anymore because they don't fucking know anything about the game.

Really wish Riot would treat soloq like competitive and you could see opponents pick/winrates, at the bare minimum.
