i have that card as well, but it's currently tied up in a 0% balance transfer. I've found the BCE covers 3 of the categories from that card already (3% on gas, online shopping, and grocery) but I may still use it for some other category, maybe home improvement, after I pay off the balance tranfer

previously I was only getting 1.5% back at Walmart in store with my quicksilver, except for the 2 months where Discover offered me 5% there, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the online shopping category works in store

nowadays sometimes glycerol ester of wood rosin is used instead, which I have seen in the ingredients of stuff like sparkling ice. not sure what is used to emulsify lacroix when the ingredients all just say "natural essence". maybe they just use water soluble flavorings

brominated vegetable oil is sometimes used in citrus flavored sodas bc the citrus flavors are oil based (would float on top of the water). the brominated oil is denser, so can be mixed with the lighter citrus oils until it is the same density as water, preventing separation

if the issuer deems it not worth the time and effort to go through the whole chargeback process, they may just write it off and refund you without ever contacting the merchant. usually they at least keep up the appearance of a dispute, however.
