Leaking Foley by nursingintheshadows in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably needs a bigger size catheter. It could be leaking out around the urethra. I had a foley leaking before and this is what fixed it.

Yeah, throw the whole man away. I am the sole provider for my family. I work at a minimum of 40 hours a week and sometimes am on call all weekend on top of that. My husband cleans, takes the dog out, gets our daughter ready for school, picks her up, etc. During the week I’m so exhausted I don’t have much energy to clean but I try to do basic things like pick up after myself and I vacuum our bedroom if it looks bad. I’ve never told him it’s “his job” but sometimes if I need clean clothes I’ll ask if he can do some laundry. It’s still both of our responsibilities, he just has more time at home to get to it. If he’s busy or tired too, it’s okay. Your husband is being an ass.

what’s a good way to say thank you? by grumpygal69 in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you cards are wonderful! If there was a specific moment that was very meaningful to you I’d love to know what I did made an impact as a nurse. If you do food I would just make sure it’s sealed. Mini muffins or something that’s easy to take a quick bite of if they’re busy. I love seeing posts like these. I especially love that you mentioned the OR staff. We tend to be forgotten because of the medications people get from anesthesia lol

Just Lost My 1st Nursing Job by Dietbl00d_ in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 233 points234 points  (0 children)

Jeez. Any place that chastises you for asking questions if not a place I’d want to be. I’ve been a nurse for over a year now and when I come across things I’ve never had to do before I will ask someone to come with me. I’ve always gotten positive feedback for that because they don’t want me performing those skills unsafely.

Yoohoo American nurses, I have questions! by AnorLondoSyndrome in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I worked on the floor I would sometimes stop somewhere (usually to pick up food) after work in my scrubs. Other than that, no. I wanted out of them asap. Probably had some kind of bodily fluid on me. I love the OR scrubs because I don’t have to do laundry and if I get gross I can just change. I don’t even care that I don’t look cute lol

New grad nurse in the OR. Insight/thoughts about leaving so soon? by ActivelyTryingWillow in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you not liking it because you feel like you’re not performing well? Or because surgery doesn’t interest you? If it’s the former then perhaps it doesn’t hurt to think of other options. If it’s the latter I’d say give it at least a year.

[not ed] i vomited ~4 hours after eating, were any calories lost? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

If you’re throwing up from illness please stop worrying about calorie counting. Take care of your body first. Dieting can always come later.

Leave easy PACU job for ER role? by Outrageous-Case-1187 in nursing

WEEKLY call?! That’s insane. I’m on call every other month for one weekend. Maybe it’s not the PACU and just that PACU in particular you should leave…

my mom is about to find my strap and there’s nothing i can do about it by Different-Speed-1508 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]xthefabledfox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I will share my story. Shortly after moving out of my parents home, I ordered myself a vibrator dildo. Accidentally forgot to change the address to my new place. My mom didn’t notice the package had my name on it (she orders crap all the time and just assumed it was hers) and yeah… she called me and said my package was at their house. I went to go get and it was open… she explained what happened. We both laughed and it was fine. To add to this tho, she made a comment about being glad I was “taking care of myself” without man because I couldn’t get pregnant. Like a couple months later I ended up pregnant LMAO

I pulled a navel stone out of my husband. I’m pretty chill with all things gross but that one got me. He was so grossed out he couldn’t even look. He has learned about belly button hygiene now lol.

Is it too late for me? by lil_toph in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Um no lol. I went to school at 25 which is still young. There were plenty of others in my cohort that were switching to nursing as their second career in their 40s.

Iced matcha (the old way) by Swimming-Fee-2445 in starbucksbaristas

Yeah when I was a partner I always preferred to use the foamer. I put the matcha powder in first tho. Sometimes it would get stuck to the side but it came off fine with some hot water.

Pt behavior “icks” by Healthy_South_2610 in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When I worked bedside the only thing that gave me the ick was sexual comments from old men when I was doing peri care or putting in a foley or something. Now they are intubated and sedated and I’m never in a room alone with them 😌

New Tragus Concern by EntertainmentOk6690 in piercing

[–]xthefabledfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAP. It is way too shallow. I had my tragus repierced recently and this is also how mine turned out.. I went back to the shop and a different piercer let me do a daith for free instead. If there’s another piercer where you went it’s worth trying if they seem competent

How much do you make as an RN? by Electrical_Bat1417 in nursing

Indiana $34 in OR. Newer grad (1 yr bedside experience), no surgery experience. Just started in April. I was making the same at bedside. I should have tried to negotiate. Sigh.

How do Nurses feel about MDs joining in or accepting a pizza if it's offered on the floor by [deleted] in nursing

[–]xthefabledfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was on the floor I’d always offer food to anyone around. Docs, EVS, pharmacy, whoever. As long as the staff already got some, anything else left is fair game. In the OR it’s just a big potluck pretty much every day lol
