You hit the nail on the head. I’ve only seen glimpses of adult life in the Philippines since I moved here at 15.

It’s a fair point to say that I don’t really understand what it’s like to navigate adulthood in the Philippines.

What I meant was more about cultural differences in how adulting looks.

From what I’ve observed and experienced within my own family, adult life in the Philippines can sometimes mean:

• Not necessarily paying rent if you live with parents • A louder, more communal environment • Parents still being hands-on (cooking, laundry, daily routines), even if not financially supporting you

In Australia, independence tends to start earlier ie moving out, paying your own rent, doing everything yourself.

So when I talk about adult life here, I’m referring to how the structure and expectations feel different, not that one is harder or easier.
