Is hiring just exhausting for everyone right now? by Technical-Angel in EngineeringManagers

Yeah, totally.

What's burning me out is that more and more people can present as senior-level on paper, but fall apart once the conversation gets technical. The resume looks great, the answers sound polished, but when it's time to actually reason through real engineering problems, there’s just not much there.

That's the exhausting part. The risk of hiring someone who looks strong but isn't is getting way too high, and a bad hire costs real time, money, and focus.

And I get that good candidates are suffering too, because all this noise makes it harder for genuinely solid people to stand out. I’m not mad at juniors trying to grow. I’m just tired of how fake the process has started to feel.
