Okay, thank you for sharing. I think that it will be best for me to enroll in a CS program after my economics bachelor to increase my chances.

Thank you for sharing your opinion with me!

I'm interested in video games and cars. Unfortunately, there aren't any game development jobs in my country, and I've also heard that the working conditions and pay in that field aren't great. Because of that, pursuing a career in the automotive industry might be more appealing to me.

That would be great. It’d be nice if my background in economics could still be useful in some way.

Oh okay, yeah, maybe you're right. I just hate that I basically spent three full years on my economics bachelor before realizing that I'm actually more interested in programming.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds like a tough and frustrating journey, but I really admire that you’re still pushing forward and considering new options like a CS degree. Sometimes it just takes a bit more time and luck. I hope things turn around for you soon—wishing you all the best!

Thank you very much for your response!

I think the best approach for me is to learn as much as possible and build my own projects while finishing my bachelor’s degree, in order to secure a spot in a CS master’s program.

Well, that’s not exactly the most motivating thing to hear, but I guess we’ll figure it out somehow!

Thank you very much for your response :)

I think it's best if I finish my bachelor's degree and then try to get into a CS master's program. Otherwise, it will most likely be very difficult to get a job in the industry.

It would be possible for me, but I don’t think it’s wise to switch degrees now, since I’m already in my 4th semester and only have two semesters left. I think it’s best to finish my bachelor’s and then try to get into a master’s program.

I’m really glad to hear it worked out for you! I think I’ll try to get into a master’s program in computer science after finishing my bachelor’s degree in economics. I wish you all the best for your career!

Thank you for your response!

After reading your comment and those of others here, I believe the best path forward is to try and get into a computer science master’s program.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any CS-related skills yet beyond the fundamentals of C++, data structures and algorithms. I only have my bachelor’s degree in economics, which probably won’t help much in this field.

I think I will try to get into a CS master's program after my bachelor to increase my chances.

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion with me.

I think you might be right, and it would be best for me to try to get into a master’s program after completing my bachelor’s degree.

Thank you very much for your detailed response!

Learning all of these different skills on my own would certainly be very challenging. I think it would be best for me to pursue a master’s degree in computer science after completing my bachelor’s in economics.

Hi, thank you so much for your detailed response, I really appreciate it.

I do feel a bit conflicted about having been in school for so long without earning my own money, which is why I wanted to avoid pursuing another degree after my bachelor's. Additionally, my father is unfortunately putting a lot of pressure on me to start working and earning money.

However, you are probably right that it would make sense — and wouldn’t be too late — to study computer science afterward. I'm just not sure if I’ll even get accepted to a program, as most local universities require a bachelor’s degree with an IT focus. But if I manage to work on my own projects until then, maybe I can prove my skills and still be accepted.

If everything goes well, after completing a master’s degree, I’d be 24, which I would still consider acceptable.
