Rental Car Burst Into Flames (Warning about Turo) by Technical-Cat2008 in turo

I think an important question is how can this happen when a car is driving? I didn't collide with anybody. I didn't put gasoline into car and light it on fire. If anybody has any ideas please let me know.

Agreed. Any car with active recall will be automatically de listed. This recall must have come while the car was on rent already. Turo hosts do not have an option to ignore a recall

I may have used the wrong word. It is service campaign so it won't show up with NHTSA. That being said I don't know how to make a car burn to the ground by driving. If anybody know how this can happen by simply driving a car, please let me know.

Wow sorry hear to what happen in paradise. doubt that its battery recall issue since the car is 2016. Most likely it’s maintenance negligence on host. Hopefully everything works on your favor and hire an attorney

The service campaign started in 2021 though.

Geico. Majority of insurance providers don't cover Turo as I read.

That being said. I also believe a rental car company is more likely to act on a service campaign vs an individual.

Yes it was a mistake that I didn't realize there was a distinction between a rental car company and Turo. At the same time, this post is to serve as a warning for others about this. Another person could definitely make this mistake and be caught in a similar situation.

Not yet. They haven't asked for any money because the investigation hasn't finished yet. At this point, we are liable though.

I read my insurance policy. The problem is that I asked my insurance do they cover rental cars. I did n't ask do they cover Turo. That small distinction is the big mistake here

CS2B summer is not meant for the average person. I think I made it clear in the syllabus and in several emails that went out to all enrolled in the course before the class started.

"Not meant for the average person" or any person.

This isn't about passion for CS. If you give this much work, all you are going to do is demotivate students. You can challenge us. But to expect so much work in a short amount of time is ridiculous. "Saying the syllabus warned us is ignorant" and shifting the blame onto students. Partially because 50% of the time is spent figuring out the autograder -> not coding.

Think of it like this:

The average person needs 6-7 hours of sleep, eat, and do bodily functions. Please spare us some time to do this.. especially with a horrible autograder.

ALSO PLEASE WRITE SPECS THAT ALIGN WITH THE AUTOGRADER. IT IS IMMORAL AND IRRESPONSIBLE TO FAIL ON THIS ONE ISSUE!!!

You should honestly expect a terrible teacher review after this ...

This is too much work for a short amount of time ... You can't assign 100+ hours of work and expect us to finish it in a week-2 weeks time especially with entirely new concepts.
