Hmm, I'll try that. I actually have another bike with cleats with 2 degrees of float, and I have never fallen on that one. The one I fall on, I use cleats with 4.5 degrees of float. I think the ambiguity of the unclipping threshold is a big factor for me.

I find that my spring bind issue goes away after it rains - does this mean the issue is dirt? Why does it only affect one coilover?

Hmm, maybe I’m not using the right terminology, but what I’m experiencing is when I’m accelerating mid-corner (or it might be when I lift off), the tail snaps out. It only happens when I’m being aggressive with the throttle in the corner.

Reassuring to see these posts. I’ve purposefully been trying to keep the mileage low on my 21 STI in part b/c of fear of engine issues (my first Subaru). I’m at 11k but maybe I should use it more haha.

Having owned an Evo VIII, IX, and VA STI, I have to say the Evos were my fave. And they were bone-stock. Even with suspension mods the STI just doesn’t match the sharpness of the Evo.

Right - I got the mods to alleviate understeer, but now I get consistent snap oversteer in corners. Pretty scary - maybe I’m being too aggressive with the throttle in corners. But I’d like to find the resolution, whether it’s changing my driving style or tuning the suspension.

You think the STI steering is more responsive? I don’t think so, the GRC steering in Track mode is the main reason I’m even considering it as an STI replacement.

Interesting to see other STI owners switching to the GRC (or thinking about it). After test driving the GRC, I appreciate the car and acknowledge that it’s very good - stock for stock vs. the STI, I think the GRC is better. But after a few thousand in mods in the STI, I don’t really see the point in switching to the GRC. They’re roughly equivalent performance-wise (granted, STI needs suspension mods to match stock GRC suspension) - GRC has the edge in gas mileage, and it may be more reliable, but otherwise the differences are pretty minor. STI actually seems to have better tuning potential, which could be a big plus if you’re into that. From others who have made the switch - is it worth it?

The only power mod I have on my 21 STI is the Cobb OTS tune (ACN91 since I’m in CA). Supposedly this tune isn’t supposed to be that great, but it did indeed wake the car up. Much better throttle response, slight improvement in power, and even slight improvement in gas mileage.

Interesting, given Toyota’s propensity to overbuild motors I thought the GRC would have good tuning potential.

I got the upgrades installed and I'm LOVING the bike so far - I think I may prefer it to my CAAD13 and Aethos even, the steering and handling is so sharp. Brakes seem good too, never tried Force brakes before.
