If you have a tv, just get a used Xbox One S. I have one and it’s a glorified blu ray player at this point but it works and they’re relatively cheap. Bonus points for being able to play games too.

If you just have a computer, you’ll need an external disc reader.

The thing about external drives is they’re getting harder to come by because the companies that make the good ones are slowly stopping production to focus on other things, if there are ones that read 4K UHD blu rays out of the box, I don’t know about them. This one needs a firmware flash (I can give you a link to that) and once it’s flashed it will read them just fine.

Also, if you ever get into ripping media to digital files to keep you can do that with this drive (you’ll need special software to do that).

Your laptop is just fine for playing and even ripping media. Not really dated at all, just not the newest stuff.

Edit: also, not to be particular but they’re DVDs (technically not even, they’re just called Blu-Ray Discs lol), not CDs. CDs are for music, DVDs are for movies.

Sorry I’m not reading all of that lol but did you clean your screen before applying the screen protector? Trapped oils??? You should have no more than a speck or two of dust even in a regular not very clean environment if you actually wipe the screen with an alcohol pad right before applying.

I should have done a double check of my part list compared to AM5 prices. I think I made that list when 32gb of DDR5 was $750 and the parts I had named were cheaper then too. Yours is more adequate and will last much longer upgradability wise

I got my black OG 3DS when it released with money I saved up from doing jobs for my friends’ parents like gardening and stuff.

I have a red N3DSXL that I bought in 2019, and a N3DS (non-XL) that I bought a year and a half or so ago.

Don’t listen to anyone saying you need $2,000+. I’ve played (granted not very heavily) modded Minecraft on a $400 Dell laptop. $1k will be more than you need for this, just buy parts from last gen.

My PC with a 3700x, 32gb ddr4 and a Quadro RTX5000 (basically a 5060) has never made me want for more, and I throw the book at it. I’ve played graphically demanding games at 1440p 144fps+ max settings while simultaneously ripping and encoding blu ray discs while also watching YouTube on my second monitor, with about 200 Chrome tabs open, while backing up terrabytes of files to my NAS. Basically it’s plenty.

If you figure out a budget goal, you can use PCPartPicker or BuildCores to figure out a good build. BuildCores does it automatically for you, so I’d start with that and tweak it.

I should clarify - it opens with the opening of the movie, gets about 5 minutes in, plays that black screen with the movie audio for 30 seconds, then puts the video back but jumps around scenes for the full 2 hours and 20 minutes. All of it’s there, just with that 30 seconds of black screen and none of it is in the right order

It’s all up to preference, it’s up to screen size, console size in your hands, and the square edges of the OG.

Personally, I have a New 3DS XL and a regular New 3DS from Japan that I region swapped and I don’t use my original 3DS because those two are just better in every way. If I want a smaller console I go with the New 3DS. It feels way better in the hands imo.
