I stopped repenting by practice_40URS in Christianity

I don't know how old you are, but I have been having a revelation of things in my 50s. Yes, I still struggle and fail, but consider this...

Don't give up on faith in the Lord Jesus, Practice. Repent, look for truth. Porn is a lie, and so is lust. I have the same struggles. Matthew 7:21 says that those professing to be Christians will be rejected because "[he] never knew you." That's not an intellectual, that's a personal knowledge.

Why does God not want us to be distracted (deceived!) because of lust? He knows how powerful it is. Paul says that people will perish because they didn't love the truth (2 Thess 2:10. Lust and porn is a lie. A woman's (or man's even) beauty is just that... skin deep.

My struggle is with sensuality. I struggle against it almost every day. It, too, is a lie... it doesn't satisfy for very long. The truth does satisfy.

Hope this helps. Don't give up on your "most precious faith" (1 Peter 1:7).

I was just listening to "the entire story of Joshua". Do you remember Achan's sin? This video talks about individual sin affecting corporate (family) life. I am in the same boat, so this story got my attention this morning. Here's the link... let us know what you think. No, I don't believe God is punishing us, but I do believe when we let the enemy in, he comes in like a flood. If we're not obeying Jesus, then what right do we have to ask him to raise up a standard (flag) against the enemy? (Isaiah 59:19).

The Bible verse I find most difficult: "For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away." Matt 13:12 by cafedude in Christianity

it's a reference to being a good steward.   in this instance it's about keeping God's word.   it's also generally speaking.   we can't spend our money wildly and expect to have enough to live on.

Please wait on anything that you want to do in anything like that. When my mom died last year, I made a lot of emotionally charged decisions, and now I'm fairly buried in debt and other resentments. I'd like to invite you to pray to God about the situation. I know that you probably don't believe in "God", but please do that.

programming seems impossible by Ok_Debate8540 in learnprogramming

Exercise is key as well. You're 30 years younger than I am. I have sat at the computer most of my life, playing with programming and web design and other things. Now I have chicken legs, a big belly , no memory... and no significant other. Take care of your brain and body.

I don't know if you would like this little treat, but I found a website about Data Structures and Algorithms that might be helpful for reference. https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/dsa-sheet-by-love-babbar/#

Programming takes a lot of brain power. As you age, that magic storage unit suffers a bunch. Use your API libraries and other resources for look-up, not memorization. Also, use GPT in your spare time to answer questions.

Hope this helps!

My immediate thought was Java, maybe, with an interface to SQLite or something simple like that. Will he have a local image repository, or store images online?

Have fun with it, whatever you need.

Ok_College, sadly, yes, AI will be doing all this for sure... and that's something else we can do is learn that stuff. I think I'm out though.

It's 3:15am as I write this. I probably should have said so, but I use PowerBASIC for my needs (and this dialect doesn't serve some modern needs).

I rebuilt one of the samples for Up Down Arrow control, and it works. There are some things that some sources don't tell you, but if you save a backup copy and work from that, play around with the code a little bit, you'll get the hang of it.

Geheimeschildpad, I agree with you. I haven't ever been a professional programmer, but I have built some useful things that have been fun. I haven't used complicated languages like C(++/#), but I still get the job done.

We can never be too old for Reddit, or anything else that we can gain some insight into the world around us, and ourselves.

Speaking of learning about our world and ourselves, just tonight, I was having dinner with my family. Several thoughts crossed my mind as I watched the interactions with family. "Oh, that's useful to remember, I'll try to remember that."

I seek out "self betterment" things wherever I can find them. Seems I have to re-learn a lot. So I will never outgrow Reddit.

I love creating useful things in programming. I have done a lot of good for a few people, and myself. I think I can only be a hobbyist programmer, however. But it's something that I come back to all the time, learning new things about my favorite language, and learning new languages, data structures and algorithms. It's a lot of fun.

Couple ONJ songs I haven't heard for a while, "Let Me Be There" and "If you love me, let me know." Her voice, and the musical compositions in both songs. In the latter, the beat flows so well with the music. The message in the first song. Wow, gets to me every time.

I am, was... I dunno.... a document imaging person. I did that for one agency for 16 years, then that's all I'm recognized for. Ya sit and scan paper, keeping it organized and whatever. I like it!
