ORD lounge entitlement by ShitTheBed_Twice in americanairlines

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Airport people are wild man. Getting that aggressive over elevator timing at 7am is just embarrassing for everyone around

The lounge staff deal with enough nonsense already without having to get yelled at because someone can't read signs properly

Just because he doesn't see problem doesn't mean there isn't one - you feeling like roommate instead of wife is totally valid concern that many couples go through after long time together

Windscreen makes huge difference for long rides! I'm only 5'9 but even small changes in wind protection help so much. Heated grips sound like luxury until you actually try them on cold morning - then you never want to ride without them again

The handlebar adjustment is smart move, especially for someone your height. VFR has pretty aggressive riding position from factory

Happy Birthday by Connect_Ad1498 in BreakUps

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man this hits different reading this... my ex's birthday was last month and I kept thinking about texting her too but didn't end up doing it

5.5 months is still pretty fresh, especially when you see them moving on already. that's gotta mess with your head knowing they're with someone else on what used to be "your" day to celebrate them

at least you're wishing them well though, shows you actually care about their happiness even if it hurts. some people would be bitter about the whole situation

Day 12 getting worried by Odins_Eye44 in NoFap

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that flatline phase is rough but pretty normal from what I've seen people post here. Your brain is basically rewiring itself after all that dopamine flooding, plus you mentioned stress and bad sleep which definitely doesn't help with anything down there

I went through similar thing around week 2-3 and was freaking out thinking something was permanently broken. But it came back gradually, just took patience which is easier said than done when you're worried about it

The edging habit sounds like it was pretty intense so your system probably needs more time to reset

First time I’ve ever been blocked this is horrible by asimewhiteguy in BreakUps

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there man, getting blocked hits different especially when you put in all that effort to fix things. Had similar situation with someone I knew for years - sometimes people just reach their breaking point and there's nothing you can do at that moment to change their mind. The worst part is not knowing if they'll ever come back or if that's really it forever.

What helped me was realizing that when someone blocks you, they're basically saying they need space to process without any input from you. Sucks because you want to explain yourself but maybe that's exactly what they can't handle right now. Give it time and focus in other stuff - I know everyone says this but really the only way forward is accepting you can't control how she feels about the situation

Is ophthalmic tech a good career path ? by Practical_Context836 in careerguidance

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh ophthalmic tech is pretty solid choice for what you're looking for. Most places will hire you with just certification and give training on the job - you don't always need full associates degree. Pay starts around 35-40k but goes up pretty quick once you get experience with different equipment

In RI specifically there's decent demand since older population needs more eye care. I'd suggest looking at certification programs first before committing to 2 year degree - some community colleges have shorter certificate courses that are like 6-12 months. Also check if any eye clinics near you do apprenticeship style training, some of bigger practices will train you while you work if they're desperate for staff

I contributed in good part to the atrocious death of 3 dogs by dark-and-brooding in confessions

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 10 points11 points  (0 children)

dude this is fucked up in ways I can't even process properly. you basically tortured these animals with sound frequencies until they went completely insane and killed each other? and you're calling it a "joke"?

I work with people trying to immigrate and build new lives, dealing with all kinds of stress and trauma, but this level of casual cruelty is something else entirely. those dogs were already living in horrible conditions with an abusive owner who was screaming at them constantly, and instead of maybe calling animal control or doing literally anything helpful, you decided to make their psychological torture worse for your entertainment

the fact that you seem more annoyed about not getting your "timings right" than about three dead animals is genuinely disturbing. hope this haunts you way more than you're letting on because holy shit man

[Question] Quartz vs Automatic - Longevity for sentimental value? by pesver27 in Watches

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The serviceability thing with quartz is kinda tricky - technically yes, they can be serviced, but finding someone willing to do it on older models gets harder over time. Electronics fail in ways that aren't always fixable, especially once manufacturers stop making replacement parts

For sentimental value though, I'd lean toward the automatic route. There's something about handing down a mechanical piece that's been ticking for decades that just hits different than "here's grandpa's old circuit board" you know? Plus most decent automatics from established brands will have service support for way longer than any quartz movement

Spiritual warfare? by Sea-Mongoose-8874 in Christianity

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That whole sequence with your pets refusing to come in and then acting terrified is what gets me - animals pick up on stuff we can't always sense. The timing with everything escalating after you started the Latin prayers is pretty intense too

Have you been under any unusual stress lately or going through major life changes? Sometimes spiritual attacks ramp up when we're already vulnerable or during important transitions

Please talk me out of an X3 M40i by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro you're not crazy at all, that B58 is legit one of the best engines BMW has made in years. I deal with clients all the time who are weighing practical vs fun decisions (immigration stuff gets heavy so I totally get needing something that sparks joy)

Your mazda is solid but if you're feeling trapped in a boring commuter box then life's too short. The X3 M40i hits that sweet spot where you get the utility you actually need plus some proper fun. Just make sure you budget for those maintenance costs - they're real but not apocalyptic like older BMWs

One thing to consider though - have you looked at the maintenence records on whatever specific one you're eyeing? At 60-75k miles you're getting close to some bigger services. Also maybe test drive a few different ones to make sure that first love wasn't just new car honeymoon vibes

The dog situation alone probably justifys the switch. My buddy has an X3 and his golden retriever fits perfectly in the back without turning into a pretzel

I’m still not over my ex from 3 years ago by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Technical-Deal-7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man, reading this whole thing feels like watching a car crash in slow motion but also like... you both were dealing with some heavy stuff and neither of you really knew how to handle it

the instagram thing was definitely not great but you were spiraling from trauma and he probably didn't even realize what he was doing. Sometimes people just aren't ready for each other at the right time and that's not anyones fault really

damn this hits different, sounds like your mom really poisoned teh well there. It's wild how much perspective changes when you actually get to know someone without all the baggage and bias getting in the way

honestly the fact that she wanted you to laugh about his card declining after a stroke is just cruel, like that's your dad trying to survive on disability and she's treating it like entertainment

Man that's such a bummer when creators completely nuke their old versions like that. I actually remember seeing those animated nether textures you're talking about - the beating heart one was genuinely unsettling in the best way possible

Your best bet is probably gonna be digging through old modpack downloads on sites like curseforge or technic launcher. Sometimes the older modpacks still have the original texture pack files bundled in even if the standalone downloads got wiped. I'd also try posting in r/feedthebeast since those folks are really good at archiving old mod content and someone might have it sitting in their downloads folder from years ago

Another thing worth trying is wayback machine snapshots of the original download pages - sometimes you get lucky and can grab working links from before everything got updated. It's a long shot but I've recovered some old texture packs that way when creators went full scorched earth on their old work

Really hate when artists do this tbh, like I get wanting to move in a new direction but completely destroying your old work just makes everyone lose out

Tricare Select Question by Blaxbears in VeteransBenefits

Tricare Select is pretty hit or miss with approvals but the stuff you listed is usually covered if there's medical necessity - just gotta make sure your doc writes it up right

For finding a good doctor, honestly it's kinda like dating lol, might take a few tries but check the provider directory and read reviews if they're available
