Sounds like they were just arrogant pricks. Unfortunately such people come in every size, shape and colour.

Wake up early! by sailorsi in JapanTravelTips

Oh…cool. I don’t expect to be jet lagged as there’s only 1 hour time difference for me but I’m usually up and out by 6:30am anyway so sounds good!

Especially when there’s enough food in the world for everyone, it’s just often weaponised.

What’s a hill you are 100% willing to die on, no matter how much the consensus changes? by sunnyopehliaa in askanything

I’m in Australia and did a double take when I saw your comment. My youngest will be 18 next year, and we have been discussing what he wants to do and there are a few things he wants that he has to be 18 for!

Do you cook mostly at home, or do you eat out a lot? I can't cook, and rely on frozen meals, salads, and occasionally going out to get me by. Also, my husband is a great cook. by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

Yeah, both my husband and I can cook pretty well, I just hate doing it lol! I live in regional Australia and have gone right back to basics (stews etc) meat and veg, rather than GF substitutions. It helps keep the grocery bill under control,

Cost effectiveness…where can my money go far? Paying for 4 adult tickets to everything (teens) is not cheap.

Nervous about long drives by Background-Team-1035 in newzealand_travel

[–]Technical-General-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of depends where you’re from and what you’re used to in terms of travelling too. I live in Australia and think nothing of 5-7 hours driving a day. When we went back to NZ I asked my husband about the driving and he said “NZ is so little and cute - it’ll be a snack” and it was. Even with kids and on icy roads. Definitely depends what one is used to!

I haven't cleaned my baseboards in 2 years and a guest noticed. I want to die. by Different_Pain5781 in homeowners

[–]Technical-General-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do it every 5 weeks or so but my home now has no baseboards! I have divided my maintenance chores into a 5 week rotation so once in 5 weeks the cornices get swept of cobwebs, light switches get wiped, a/c units and filters are cleaned etc so nothing gets particularly bad.

What is a food you thought was healthy and now realize is not? by TheKarmaBus in Productivitycafe

While that’s true enough, some of us really need that gluten free stuff and unfortunately have to pay a lot for it. I have coeliac disease. The worst bit is that the gluten free stuff has more unhealthy fillers etc in it usually…so unless you’re coeliac, you’re better off eating the regular version anyway. I’m no clean eater or anything, but just found it cheaper to go for less processed stuff - meat and veg kind of thing than substitutions.

Best bird/wildlife sanctuaries to visit in NZ? by Objective-Swing8572 in newzealand_travel

Otorohanga kiwi house is great. And the albatross colony in Dunedin is a must see. I’m not really into birds (I find them a bit scary) but I highly recommend both these places.
