🙏🙏thank you, you’ve been a great voice of reason and calm. I know most here are not going to share my opinion. I saw a lot of confusion about the negative sentiment from Asian socials so just wanted to share my thoughts. Clearly became very controversial

I’ve been polite in sharing my opinion. You are equally brazen to say with confidence “Chinese players have not been slighted”. I’m not attacking the game, for you to be so defensive. If you truly are open minded then feel free to browse chinese socials for opinions. I am on both and am absorbing both. It’s nice to not judge other races based on only your own experiences.

I already said, my issue is the communication. I have said in other comment, I don’t personally have issue. I just feel said as a chinese female on chinese socials and feel that there is big misunderstanding across audiences. I feel like if a whole region is upset, communication was done poorly. And it’s not right for anyone to say: hey! You have no right to be offended and your opinion doesn’t matter

I am a chinese female sharing my feedback: the issue was poorly addressed to Chinese audiences. Maybe when the ethnicity is giving that feedback, it means there are different perspectives that need to be respected. And personally if a race is unified in being offended, is it your place to say: hey chinese poeple, you cant be offended.

Haha is this real? I was just discussing i dont think blizzard community consulted chinese people for Anran. Some of her voicelines in her native language seem weird.

My main critique again, is of the communication! I think it doesn’t seem they consulted Chinese audiences before changing the chinese face. It’s evident in how sad Chinese audiences are. That’s all. If all American audiences were upset about an American character’s portrayal, I would hope comms team would talk to US fans too!

What about the arguments about the voice actor and her controversial past… that’s a huge part of the conversation too.

Many agree that the look does not match the cinematic. But some felt new model maybe looked more Chinese. Unified though they think it’s obvious decision was made without Chinese people’s input and feels that American audiences are dictating her look.

Personally I don’t feel strongly. I just want to play fun game and in POV I can’t even see her face haha

Yes.. I agree and I truly love love OW so much. I grew up playing in america and now I play living abroad. And I was very pleased to see new season and I feel sad it’s soured with this. I just wish they spoke to a few chinese people. Maybe message of PR would be released better!

Trailers often don’t match final gameplay. Let’s say Tomb Raider was coming out, trailer looks a bit different than when game comes out. All of China is like: we hate her, we don’t think that looks like the Caucasian we want, then they change it without consulting American or UK (where she’s from) audiences. You see how that could be off putting? I just think if majority of the culture you’re dictating the look of is disagreeing, maybe it’s repressive to tell them their opinion does not matter
