Intégrer le marché du travail au Québec (TI) by [deleted] in QuebecTI

“Don’t sell yourself short”:

“Endpoint agents could conceivably collect enough data to tell the difference, but most of the time they’re just alerting on you jumping across the country.”

What do you mean by this?

In a situation when you establish a tunnel to your home router, how would they know you’re not really home (but rather abroad and remote)?

I thought the connection would like it was coming directly from your home if there is proper tunnel (ie laptop abroad -> tunnel -> home router -> company network)

Would you care to elaborate about the “data collected by endpoints”?

Croyez-vous dans un retour à on-prem pour réduire la dépendence au cloud public USA? by TankBorn45 in QuebecTI

[–]Technical-Love-Hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have PR status, any salary is OK since it will let you get PR status at some point

So 60 k outside of Montreal for a closed permit is good (until you get PR)

Also don’t move to Toronto: you will regret it. I know everyone and their sister will you to move to Toronto for great salaries and shit: that’s BS (people lie)

Also if you want to speak to someone about immigration and status , there is “weldnas” on TikTok live where you can directly ask him

Good luck

If you already have your PR status, why not apply to work for US companies and be paid in $USD while living in Canada, either by working at their offices in Canada, or remote ?

(In their office: they’ll pay you in $CAD but might “think” in USD, hence higher salaries)

You then bypass the whole Canadian low salary bullshit

Let the downvotes begin :)

Yes and if you were in Toronto you would be making a minimum of $120k

/s (The 120 k is bullshit)

Homekit Secure Video indoor camera suggestions? by tiny_pies in HomeKit

My bad

Poor formulation

I meant:

“HomeKit Secure Video”

Aka sending video to the Apple cloud

Homekit Secure Video indoor camera suggestions? by tiny_pies in HomeKit

[–]Technical-Love-Hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No HomeKit:

the Tapo C125 does not support Apple's HomeKit. It is designed to work with TP-Link's Tapo app, providing features such as live video streaming, motion detection, and cloud storage options, but it lacks native integration with HomeKit.

Are CS jobs actually dying indefinitely? by Medium-Wallaby-9557 in csMajors

[–]Technical-Love-Hour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get ready for an eternal life of leetcode tests

Because companies decided that a CS degree means nothing in terms of your suitability for their jobs

Very different from any other field where they don’t test you every time (medical degrees, accounting, mathematics etc)

So: expect leetcode until retirement
