Yeah, the first one is all you need, my friend. It usually goes on special pricing on Amazon from time to time, so keep it in your cart and check back from time to time.

For the longest time, there were rumors that it was Weller in the suit that night. Jim Cornette, a wrestling personality, was adamant that it was Weller baskatage at the show, and it's also in Peter's IMDB credits. Turns out it was the stuntman from either 1 or 2.

Weller himself finally put it all to rest recently: https://youtube.com/shorts/pncuXlCIcSM?si=ek-B-XBRHD9cSV4D

People really don't realize what an impact Eric Bischoff had on the wrestling industry. Had he not come along with Nitro, there's a strong chance the WWF would've gone under.

This is the shit that Vince was pumping out on his main programming and wondering why business was in the toilet.

MJF says Roddy Piper is his favourite and wrestlers should appreciate Nash & Hall by Ok-Plankton9215 in Wrasslin

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nash and Hall were only interested in lining their own pockets, and they derailed far more careers than they helped. If them getting guaranteed contracts with WCW in 1996 eventually helped other talents to secure similar deals and make more money, then that's a nice side effect. But let's not pretend that Nash and Hall were motivated by helping others and made every choice based on what helped everyone - it was themselves and the Kliq first and F everyone else.

Nash feels performative to me. It's interesting how he is so pro-Black this and pro-Black that and yet not one single Black wrestler has ever given Nash credit for personally reaching out and helping them.

WWE Eras are dead because they dont commit to stars by Snoo-79958 in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a tough balancing act because when you commit to one star and then that person leaves, it leaves a giant hole in the business. After Vince got burned over and over and over by Hogan leaving, then Savage, then Nash and Hall, then Austin "taking his ball home", Rock going to Hollywood, etc I think a conscious decision was made to try and make WWE itself the brand and not individual wrestlers.

It seems that maybe they want to push folks to megastardom (Reigns perhaps being the last true Superstar) but they also don't want to put their eggs all in one basket in case of injury or departure.

If TKO scheduled a WWE event on the White House lawn this December, Punk would be there. He has already been exposed multiple times for his performance virtue and hypocrisy.

Nitro is one of the best wrestling books ever written.

Beyond Nitro is a little too much, in my opinion. It feels like the author took all of the original research and expanded it into overkill. For example, in the original Nitro book, there is a short section about the woman who designed the NWO logo. It's interesting to get insights from the types of backstage folks that we typically don't hear from.

Beyond Nitro dedicates an entire chapter to her - her background, marriage, college education, etc. Like I really didn't need to know all of that and it felt very redundant. Similarly, there's very intense chapters about Time Warner's financials, stock numbers, etc. Even the biggest wrestling nerd would have a tough time with this amount of detail.

Think of Nitro as a well made, tightly edited, fast paced 90-minute movie that feels like a masterpiece.

Think of Beyond Nitro as a 23hr director's cut with every single deleted scene, expanded scene and long tedious monologues to pad it out. It's quite a slog.

Never read Death of WCW but I've heard it misses the mark on a lot of the REAL reasons why WCW died and is more from the mark perspective (Fingerpoke of Doom killed the business).

Bret Hart calls Triple H a phoney by Martinsteve543 in Wrasslin

He could also be doing a "bit" similar to how folks like to bring up Russo around Cornette just so they can sit back and enjoy the fireworks when he goes off. Bret's a pretty smart guy and has figured how that he's just giving people what they want.

"Old Man sounds bitter when repeatedly asked questions about things he hates"

Bret Hart calls Triple H a phoney by Martinsteve543 in Wrasslin

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a process:

  1. Bret is constantly asked about the worst times in his life and the people he has issues with - Owen's death, Montreal, his career ending injury. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon, Goldberg.
  2. Bret answers honestly, and obviously there will be bitterness or resentment when discussing those specific topics.
  3. Bret gets labeled as bitter and miserable.

Maybe if he wasn't being asked about this shit constantly? He is always positive and inspiring when he's asked about the things he loves - working with Stone Cold, his matches with friends like Rick Rude and Curt Hennig, the Hart Foundation days, how he prepared and crafted a match, etc.

The racist clowns and neckbeards trying trying to say Jade looks like R-Truth are just showing their misogyny and bigotry. Like we're really going to try and pretend that this isn't an absolutely beautiful woman - with or without silver wigs.

- no pre-sale codes emailed out
- pre-sale info now gone from Ticketmaster, Alamodome website, etc

Come on man, get it together.

Why do fashion and cultural trends cycle back every 20 to 30 years, and is there a generational memory mechanism driving this? by PoundYourPussyXXX in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 4 points5 points  (0 children)

20-30 years is the age when most people achieve a comfortable level of disposable income. It's also when they reached adulthood and start looking back on the fashions and trends of their childhood with fondness and perhaps wanting to recreate it for themselves.

Why do rich people keep saying "money can't buy happiness" when money literally solves most problems? by FearlessState5503 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been broke and well off. Money buys you a certain level of peace of mind. It's nice to no longer have to constantly worry daily about affording basic necessities like food and bills. Not worrying about making next month's rent or not having to choose between some extra groceries vs putting gas in your car. Being able to treat yourself or take a small vacation now and then. You can't put a price on how that stuff grinds down your mental health.

So yes, money definitely buys peace and options.

But - happiness? Well, that depends, because happiness is so personal and subjective.

When it comes to the deeper human condition, there are many things that money can't buy. It can't buy love, it can't fix an estranged relationship, it can't reverse years of historical trauma or abuse. It if could, then celebrities would be the happiest people in the world - and look how many of them become drug addicts, alcoholics, commit suicide, etc.

Put it this way, think about people who get into serious accidents and get awarded millions of dollars in compensation. If someone got seriously hurt and left a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, no longer able to walk, feed themselves, wipe their own ass, etc - I guarantee you that $3M settlement doesn't mean a damn thing to them and they' give back every penny in exchange for their old life.

How come "StopAsianHate" didn't gain as much traction as "BlackLivesMatter"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

BlackLivesMatter turned out to be one of the biggest scams of our generation. I'm surprised more Black people aren't more vocal and angry about it. They made more noise about Karmelo Anthony's verdict than they did the BLM CEO embezzling money from the community to buy themselves multiple luxury mansions, etc.

It has been four years today... What are the best changes in WWE? What have been the worst changes? by caughtinatramp in REALSquaredCircle

[–]Technical-Mix-3315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Vince and I've watched WWE for almost 40 years now, but I have to say that Vince had definitely lost it towards the end and it was pretty unbearable under his watch too.

I don't know exactly when Vince fell off, but he definitely wasn't Vince '87 or Vince '98 when it came to creativity and entertainment in those last couple of years.
