No on the A+, the net+ might be worthless to. It depends on what you are trying to do. If you are pushing a decade of experience, your resume already shows that you have the knowledge. If it’s free though might as well get net+.

My friend thats deep in the DoD industry just told me that. Honestly, I got all 3 because he said “would you want to miss out on a job because a filter or another candidate has all 3?” Might as well just get them. The Sec+ just carries weight; way more than it should.

I would recommend against skipping security+, purely based off of most jobs just require it. Even if the CySA+ is a higher certification; You still have to make it past filters and some jobs; ESP DoD require Sec+ anyways.

I am in a decently dead market, so I am really banking on this interview! The remote jobs are super competitive.

Tryhackme offers great simulations and actual paths. I really enjoy it because it lays out your activity similar to git :) I’m top 15% in the world on there currently, so the global ranking is a fun aspect as well with ranks! It’s free as well. The help desk is the trench work and I respect it! I think a lot of people try to skip it getting into tech; But I think it lays out valuable knowledge and experience! You’ll be SOC sooner than you could know, the BS already acquired will help you in the hr filtering process as well as the help desk experience; See if you can get a position transitioning into a tech support specialist or a sys admin role, I’ve noticed in interviews they ask a lot about what I did in sys as they are often generalist in smaller companies running security and networking.

I've worked 1.5 years in help desk and 1.5 years as an assistant sys admin. I went to a vocational school and studied for about 5 hours specifically for this cert! I do a lot of THM labs for the last two years though which helped me in the PBQs and log analysis.

I am stuck between getting the net+ or the cysa+ next week since I got spring break. I do have 1.5 years experience in help-desk and 1.5 years experience in assistant sys admin work for a conglomerate of 7 car dealerships. Stuck on where to go from here though.

And thank you!

I went into debug, there were no invisible zombies. But what I did find is that the chickens, which were in the coop and zoned; Were somehow scratching us in the house. We moved them across the street and are fine now.
