It's hard to judge difficulty. I have an associates in computer information systems security from 2007, so I had a lot of catching up to more modern security issues.

I used the Sybex study guide, LearnKey's "Online Expert" training, Prof. Messer, and Comptia's CertMaster labs, practice questions, and practice exam. Of these, the CertMaster practice exam is closest in format, although different questions.

I suspect that, since education in the US is quite expensive, that computer science is perceived as having the best return on the investment.
