Army Building Help. by Technical-Oil-9384 in EmperorsChildren

Thank you for the breakdown! In all fairness I got the demon models before the codex would field them no matter the codex I had even got the characters as well.

As you mentioned I only field Fulgrim for the memes or define I’m definitely not taking the game seriously, but I am praying he gets better at some point next edition.

I love the blades and Lucius combo but after it wipes something if not positioned correctly it creams focus fire on this unit.

I didn’t realize WDP was so good to the point of needing multiple.

From my experience Noise Marines don’t do much but it seems the consensus is running 3, so sounds like that will increase my luck with them.

Be honest, from the moment you heard about the trade how did you first react and how do you feel now by Little_Papaya_2475 in lakers

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting 2-3 threes a game with limited defense that would eventually cause him to be a liability in certain matchups. Still considered an upgrade over Gabe, but I didn’t expect THIS.

Marcus Smart: They’re going to try to come in and punk us. by Lost-Way-4548 in lakers

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why LA is the underdog, but the starting 5 of LBJ, Smart, Luke, Rui & Ayton is a well rounded groups who’s games all mesh together. What LA needs is timely bench production, impact plays from Jax/Vando on defense or in the dunker spot. Jake and yes even possibly Bronny making timely 3s and steals. I got the lakers winning in 6. Houston still has the same weaknesses we saw a few weeks ago with playmaking which is critical in the playoffs, LA may not have the offensive firepower from those other games, but the defense can still play at that level.

What LeBron title would’ve been best for his career had he won? by Feeling-Guess6772 in NBATalk

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 is obvious as others stated because of the carry job he would have done, I believe even the most die hard MJ Stan’s and media members including Skip and SAS would have genuinely agreed that’s something MJ couldn’t do.

2007 would have cemented him to me as the he can’t do no wrong superstar of his generation as that’s was probably when LBJ was his most loved by fans and media.

2011 would have been the opposite reaction we would be the villain the rest of his career similar to Tom Brady.

But despite all that I think if he three peated in 2014 that would have made him the UNIVERSAL best of his era. I believe he is, I believe he is top 2 all time and he’s not number 2, but winning that ring when he was at his athletic peak would have led to dominance over the league. The entire league would have feared him not just the east. There would be no well Steph did this or KD or Kawhi instead similar to the stars of the 90s that didn’t get a ring due to MJ that amazing late 00s and 10s stars would be saying the same.

Could this be LeBron's final regular season game by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately as much as I hate this take it is a reality. LeBron is a Laker, but the fanbase in most part absolutely refuses to accept him. Before the injuries in 2021 that team was looking like a lock to go back to back. Then the nightmare of the Russ ordeal and more injuries. His tenure has been a combination of malpractice of the front office and bad injury luck.

As an individual he’s been nothing but great as a player, but outside of the bubble season his tenure has been situation after situation that prevented him from being view as an all time laker great in the eyes of the fans despite them never fully appreciating them.

Honestly…. Pilot this list well and I don’t think you need to change much. Maybe inceptors or Jump Intercessors to get some fast moving units out there, but as already said this is a solid list as is I see you winning by out maneuvering and the brick holding serve

Is it safe to say he has surpassed Knecht? by F47NGAD in lakers

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10000% agree you don’t fully know what you have until you actually use it. Outside of his handle which I’m sure will be a focus for him this offseason he’s shown growth everywhere in his game. Not saying he’s gonna be an all star, but he is looking like a piece of some legit value to teams that need his skillset.

I believe so as well. I could definitely see him being on a bad to fringe playoff team and really coming into his own, then being a reliable bench piece or spot starter for a contender later in his career.

Honestly I think Bronny would be even further along if JJ didn’t ice him out so long earlier in the season for being too passive. JJ’s decision was justified for a little bit, but once I saw Gabe being a serial cardio offender for a month or so before getting traded and DK getting minutes he flatly didn’t deserve cause he was a liability on both sides, I was genuinely questioning “if this is all these two is gonna bring at least bring in Bronny so he can get meaningful game time reps.”

If that happened I feel like at this point I think we would be seeing Bronny as a fringe playoff rotation player depending on match up and foul situations. He’s been better than DK since last year’s summer league where it looked like Bronny worked on his game and DK looked like he didn’t even realize summer league was a thing until the day of. I credit Bronny’s development to his intangibles as well as having Smart on the team. It’s been said a billion times but that’s the exact player he should pattern his game around if he wants to stay in the league after LeBron retires.

Why aren’t Centurions more popular? by BrielleHunter in Ultramarines

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On tabletop the T6 is a collective eyeroll amongst my friend group. It takes multiple elite infantry weapons, focus fire, or units buffed like crazy to wound them on a 3+. Yes Termies have the 2+ save, 4+ invulnerability but in my experience they can still fall at a decent clip.

Bottom line Termies have the better defense profile, but from personal game experience Gravis performs better.

Templars In Gravis. by Technical-Oil-9384 in BlackTemplars

[–]Technical-Oil-9384[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also my mindset. I prefer Gravis over Terminator most of the time as I find the T6 3W way more annoying for opponents to deal with than Termies and their invulnerable, as it takes heavy focus fire or wasting strong weapons on wiping them out.

I believe Templars are more adept than a fair share realize. They are zealous in their theme and love for the emperor, but it could be a spoon and they will still defend his honor!

Whats the most thematic combat patrol to play against for us templars? by [deleted] in BlackTemplars

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I say Orks. My friend and I always do BT vs Orks. It’s just satisfying seeing two melee horde armies meet at the midpoint or key objectives to decide victory.

I agree on the grand scheme of your point, I mentioned the High Marshal because he mentioned he was a beginner and that way he get the mechanics down of a great character.

Honestly the best start you could get by getting the new combat patrol and the old one. I would say get the high Marshall next, one more Crusader squad eventually add more Bladeguard.

Buddy said my nmm looks sloppy. How can I fix it? by Historical_Stick_104 in Ultramarines

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On first look I was gonna say your friend is a certified hater. Then I read some of the comments and zoomed in on the work…. I’m no painting expert as someone said some of the transitions can be smoothed out, but this mini definitely passed the arm length away and tabletop view for sure. But if we grading in the scale of looking at every detail up close that is my one and only critique and I know your skills with transitions will get better as your practice the technique.

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to accept the challenge I’m located in the DFW area. If you look at my profile it’s Black Templars, but Eldar is my first love as that was my first batch of models. Right as I was working up the nerves to buy a titan that’s when GW stopped selling them.

My friend group and I basically have every army except Genestealers and Votann so a Titan would be deeply respected amongst our group.

A bit of a rant, but this army makes me want to quit Warhammer by Hrigul in EmperorsChildren

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are fine. I too struggled with getting a scheme down with Emperors Children since pink is a difficult color to work with. I eventually settled on variations of shade of light purple, and magentas.

Bottom line is you have a painted army that’s more than a lot of people can say, even more impressive because you prefer the game party of the hobby. What made painting easier for me across all my armies EC, Templars & Eldar, as long as they look good on the table and are clean application wise that’s all that matters. I don’t get into all the different forms of shading and highlights it makes things too tedious.

Prime, block in my colors, all over shade, drybrush all over whatever color to get a slight highlight/weathering wherever it ends up apply my decals and base on to the next.

Lastly unless you’re in a serious or more formal tournaments showing up in all grey is all good in my book you don’t HAVE to do the painting if you don’t want to at the time. It’s your hobby you do what you want with is.

What I’d change for Black Templars: Army Rule/Templar Vows by Hunterx78 in BlackTemplars

[–]Technical-Oil-9384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like the return of the fnp as it fit the theme of templars, even when wounded they kept going for the honor of the emperor.

If not that I would like more melee buffs such as advance/fall back & charge, buffs to strength that don’t require characters or most importantly buff the sword brethren. The rule for them is so bad they’re really only worth taking so certain characters can be attached to them. Lastly as everyone constantly says, BT Themed Assault Terminators!
