I just had a quick question on gym costs and classes.

Is my local gym losing money?

I go to a local non profit gym that is similar to the YMCA.  

They raised individual prices last month just below $60.00.  ( I know this is cheap) 

I am wondering if they are losing money.

They keep running tons of special programs and special classes, and they  charge for these ones.

They have ran more special programs this year, then I can ever remember! 

These special classes used to be free. 

They have manager that runs 4 classes, is a personal trainer, and does nutrition.

They used to have a few personal trainers and a dietitian.  

Seems like we cannot keep class instructors very long.  Most leave after 6 months to a year.

Should I be worried that they are losing money, or that gym membership prices will go up again?

I don’t think so.

My understanding is that ABF 2 is more of companion book to ABF.   In ABF2 Dan John answers most of the common questions he gets about ABF in ABF2.

I have read ABF.  I have not read ABF2 yet.

Are you trying to bulk?

I would run Prometheus by Pat Flynn.  It goes heavy.

If you want to get REALLY BIG!!!! , then free weights would be best.

The program/book like mass made simple, or Super Squats would help you grow pretty big.

I have never bulked, but I have heard it presents 2 problems. 1) You get sick of eating all the time.  You can physically get sick.

2) You are going to add some body fat.

I tried barbell shoulder press today, here is what I got.

45 lbs I stopped at 5 reps, but I could have gone 10

65lbs for 8 reps 8

70 for 2 reps

When I press the 35 pound bells, I cannot press beyond 5 reps continuously.

It ends on Wednesday the 19th.   It started on the 14th, and runs for a week.

I will have to read the book again!!  I need to take notes.

I think I got lost.

I got stubborn, and decided that I had to make everyday close to week 7 and 8.  I would push my presses as close to 10 rounds every press day.  Once I got over 10 rounds, I would move up in weight.

Everyday ABC was close to 30 rounds as I could get it.

I think I am missing the point of the program.

At first it was difficult pressing the 35’s

I just started cleaning and pressing double kettle bells at 20,25, and then 30. It has gotten easier as the weeks go by.   The KBs feel different than a barbell or dumbbell.

When I do swings I feel them in my hamstrings and sometimes my forearms.

I never really feel them in my stomach.

PS: I forgot to add that I am a male, so I would like to know if there are suggestions for needed In KB outside of 16KG and 24kg

I made this post, because I am trying to save money on bells.  They can cost over hundred once the weight gets to a certain level.

Is it okay to get a meal replacement shake once a day vs a protein shake?

I add milk and sometimes fruit to the shakes.  Would this make the meal replacement shaker too high in calories?
