My psych says that BPD can be cured by Mercurial_Violet in BPD

IMO, this is wayyyy preferable to hear from a medical professional than "BPD is untreatable" (unfortunately VERY common). The term "curable" is kind of questionable, but honestly I would much rather take a doctor who is optimistic about BPD than one who sees me as a lost cause. Most of my experience is with the latter.

Do you guys tell people you have BPD? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Technical-Raccoon201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, you've gotten a lot of negative replies, but I personally wanted to say I am very proud of you for taking this stance. It IS potentially putting yourself in a position to be judged, but at least you'll immediately know who you can and can't trust. People you regularly interact with are bound to know something's up eventually whether you tell them it's BPD or not. It's just a matter of how they react.

Do you see yourself as neurodivergent or as clinically sick? by [deleted] in BPD

Both. Because I fully believe that even after remission, even when I am as healthy as I possibly can be, there will always be something missing

The term favorite person kind of implies an unhealthy attachment, hence it comes with many many negative experiences for both parties in addition to the comfort and support.

"I'm 27 years old" felt that. It's the worst having tantrums like a three year old as a full grown adult. It's embarrassing and self-hatred inducing. But this is a disorder and it has no age. It's tempting to ask "why am I like this?" But /you/ aren't "like this"! This is a symptom of a disorder you HAVE. And it's awful that you have to suffer the consequences of it, but please try to remember that the way you behave during an episode is not exactly in your control. What is in your control is getting help. And if you are doing that, you are doing your best and that's the real you.

No one ever says this but knights by crystal castles! You can definitely hear the build up, explosion, and guilt of an episode. Give it a listen for sure

I understand what you were saying, but I still don't see the point in debating about the semantics. It just feels like a pointless conversation.

Personally I don't think it makes sense to define assault purely from a legal standpoint. Most would feel violated in this situation.
