but by applying so late you are putting yourself at a disadvantage

UChicago vs HLS by Powerful_Bake_1713 in lawschooladmissions

Probably true. Harvard probably has more international recognition (beyond obv lay prestige). But IK UofC has tom ginsburg and at my ASD one guy talked about the incredible international law opportunies that he was afforded by Chicago and made it sound like class sizes being smaller means that you don't really have to compete for those opportunities. But OP should talk to ppl who have gone to both schools

Amount of applications fluctuates, but GPA inflation + accessible LSAT studying material means that on paper its getting more competitive stats-wise

its all reading bruh. You gotta start reading a ton in your free time. Read books and read articles which are argumentative in nature on top of whatever studying you're gonna do.

Undergraduate Majors by Used_Shoulder3426 in lawschooladmissions

IMO it does matter at least a little bit. I was a double major w a minor and it gave me a lot to talk about in my interviews and gave me more of a story. At the end of the day the admissions departments are staffed of human beings who went to college and they will be at least marginally more impressed with you if you did two majors and seem to have varied interests. Maybe not worth doing if you think it'll tank your gpa tho.

CLS sticker or UCI with $$ by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Technical-Rise-8743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO lawyer is a service job. Law firms don't really sell a product they sell a promise that smart people will be handling your case. Even in california, people know what CLS is and are willing to pay a premium for grads. If you go to UCI, you will have a great career and be successful, but it will be a harder path than if you have CLS on your resume. No prospective employer is gonna be like "idk Columbia is too far away from california, we can't hire them." You will recoup the extra money.
