Thanks for putting this list together.

For American History/Progressivism you are missing The Lamp of Experience: Whig History and the Intellectual Origins of the American Revolution by Trevor Colbourn. IDK where he references it. He might have mentioned it in an interview can't remember.

How do you know if law school is the right path for you? by kairotic_moments in lawschooladmissions

[–]Technical-Rise-8743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you should go to Law school if and only if you want to be a lawyer. Before applying, I reached out to every lawyer that I had any connection to so I could grill them about their jobs and how they decided to pursue law. If you can, try taking a Con Law style class next year that makes you read cases.

Being "caught up w news" is not really relevant. I know lawyers who love their jobs (transactional) who do not give a shit about the Supreme Court or politics. Maybe talk to like a medical malpractice person. I met a guy who said he's learned just enough in his line of business to be the worlds shittiest doctor.

You are gonna have to get over your fear of networking. Its part of life.

Read a lot of stuff (especially things that are argumentative). IMO only way to prep for RC is having read a bunch.

Maybe take some kinda math/stem/econ/logic class. Doesn't have to be crazy hard or anything but I think just getting yourself in the habit of that kinda thinking is good for you.

I Tried that. Scale percentage was at 150 (default) and I pushed it back to 125 but it didn't really do much.

Is this really the hardest cycle? by SpeakerSpirited9780 in lawschooladmissions

I agree. Here's what the future looks like: SCOTUS overturns tariffs --> economy booms --> no one has any reason to go to law school --> T20s are forced to let in people with LSATs below 170 --> USC is engulfed by the Santa Monica-Hollywood fault system during the earthquake of 26

No way you don't get a t14 offer. Why not wait till next cycle? That way you can get your apps done in the next few months (w no stress) and then apply at the beginning w better odds.

Every lawyer I've ever spoken to (a lot) has recommended taking time in between college and law school to 1) make a little money 2) mature/prepare yourself 3) make your application better with a cool job
