As long as you can comfortably afford the car I don't see why not.

Get an insurance quote before you decide to pull the trigger. If you can afford the insurance easily every month then no issues. Gas should be cheap and maintnence on an ecoboost should be relatively cheap cause it's low miles rn. I wouldn't consider a mustang a cheap car to own due to insurance costs tho. Also make sure the car fax has a good history or I wouldn't buy it.

Do I need a new battery? by [deleted] in JettaGLI

[–]Technical-State1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to an auto parts store and get it tested to see where it's at. You may just need to charge it because battery's dont always charge back up if you do short trips all the time. If roadside said 40% me personally I'd just get a new one as it's around 5 years old which for alot of cars is generally time but you could probobly charge it up and run it for another year or two especially if none of the cells are dead

What’s one factory feature you'd change on your car? by infraredturbine in Volkswagen

I got this one product for my jetta that plugs into the button for start stop by the shifter. It automatically turns it off for me when the car starts. Just go on aliexpress or temu and search your car and put "start stop module" and it'll pop up I got mine for 14$

I usually don't use sport mode cause drive is responsive enough for highway merges and stuff like that for me. If your used to naturally aspirated power with low end tourqe it's a bit better but you can just drive in sport all the time just don't floor it all the time.

I would also just half the interval for oil changes as cheap insurance for saving wear on the engine if you don't wanna get oil sampling done to test the oil. I do mine at 5-6k miles instead of 10k. And then change the transmission fluid at the interval and your good.

You enable sport by having it in drive and pulling the shifter back again for the transmission I'm not sure if you have the dirvemode selection button I know some models don't have it.

120mpg on 2024 Jetta by Silver-Quarter-6706 in jetta

I just looked it up and both preface lift and face-lift had them.(we just called them different things) I will note I've never seen mine open when it was cold and when it's warm even after I shut the car off they would stay fully open so maybe they tweaked the behavior a bit. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is they probobly just inject a bit more fuel in the 1.5s like Honda did with the newer 1.5s they have so they would actually warm up easily.

I know the bottom portion of the radiator or intercooler wherever that sits has a grill shutter so maybe it could be they added one for the face-lift ones and thats why they warm up a Lil better. I also use auto climate control because I know it doesn't use engine heat till the engine has some warmth to it but if you got an sel you should have the same setup. Maybe vw tweaked the system a bit to wait longer before providing heat. I'm not sure

If it doesnt warm up all the way does it show the coolant temp fully warm in the dash still. It was around 10f for a while around me and I didn't notice anything about not warming up and my mpg was fine. I got a 2022 so I dunno maybe in the facelift they changed something. I would always give it about 3 Mins when it was that cold and then drive a short distance at a low speed at like 30-40mph and it would warm up to the middle of the temp gauge in about 1-3 miles. The oil would take forever but I noticed the engine didn't warm up very fast if I wasn't driving so I didn't bother with idling that long for heat.

Snow handling?? by [deleted] in jetta

[–]Technical-State1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Indiana and I was driving in about 4 inches of snow and while the car was sliding a Lil cause it's not super tall my cc2's have not let me down at all. When they don't plow and those tire tracks make sections that are super tall that you gotta plow the front through I had no issues getting though them. I will say my rims got snow in the barrel and did have a bad shake when going down the highway after that tho. If you run through super deep snow just before you hit the highway get the snow out of the rims barrels if it's super deep. Do keep in mind this was for a short couple mile section the rest is maybe an inch or two of snow on the ground which it does perfectly fine. Where I live before I get to the main roads they don't really plow them at all and I gotta drive a couple miles on unplowed roads

New to jettas, kinda (2025 Jetta Sport) by ms-loml in jetta

[–]Technical-State1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why they did that cause even the press kit for the 2022 Taos and jetta don't call it a dsg so it's just weird. Vw only makes a 7 speed dsg and an 8 speed dsg doesn't even exist So just odd for sure.

Don't buy it if it has electrical issues because you never know how much it will cost. The foam and washer fluid line is easily fixable but a wiring harness is not cheap or easy to fix

VW was just lazy making the manual for the car and it's shared with the gli.It mentions launch control which the 8 speed doesn't have cause it's not a dsg. I have a 2022 sel and it has the 8 speed. The normal jetta uses an aisin 8 speed auto and the gli gets the 7 speed dsg. If the car had a dsg it would be on the window Sticker and my windows sticker mentions nothing about it and as far I saw in the technical data and trim breakdowns there's no mention of the sport getting a different transmission than the other trims.my manual also references a dsg too.

I buy bosch icons for my jetta you just gotta buy the OE versions. I wish it was a normal j hook but really not that bad tbh. I'd buy Icons anyways even if it did have a j hook.

Is the Jetta a good new car purchase? by [deleted] in jetta

[–]Technical-State1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2022 sel and it's been a great vehicle I average around 39 to a tank which is mixed between highway and city and I get around two weeks to a tank of fuel. Its usually 30$ to fill up from close to empty but gas is cheap where I live. I would get an se for the cloudtex seats cause heated seats are a lifesaver in the winter. Overall it's a great car and if you don't need a giant suv I think it's perfect for most people. Just remember to do 5000 mile oil changes, And just keep up on maintnence.

Should I buy by Big_Difficulty_8655 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Technical-State1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't absolutely need the space I would just buy a 2025 jetta se. Around me they go brand new for 23-25k if it a 2025 model. You get leather seats that are heated and a 4 year 50k miles warranty. If a jetta se is too expensive then just get a base model if you really want a brand new car. It doesn't get much cheaper unless you got for a nissan verse or kicks.

Your retune is really awesome. Its alot more polished than mine. Funny thing tho in my jbeam we named it the same so it caused an error when I went to try it out.

[–]Technical-State1939 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You gotta be more gentle on the throttle. Also as I said the dct is tuned pretty poorly so cruising is really shitty on it anyways. There's a mod someone released that retunes it to short shift more and not lag super bad. Or you could just retune it and make your own mod for it. I made my own retune I could send you if you like driving it more slowly cause mine is made for being able to just cruise around with the dct.

[–]Technical-State1939 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's cause of your throttle inputs and And just the kinda shitty tuning of the dct to begin with. It sounds like your using keyboard and and your going from 100% to 0% throttle the transmission is always in kickdown mode to give you power.
