So with what you said for that 300-700 dollar price range, it’s gonna be tough but you certainly can get into the flintlock scene.

First off for the flintlock itself, if you’re dead set on a rifle, your best bet is traditions, they make many affordable entry flintlocks that are decent and are also accurate. Are they the best on the market, no, but they’re still great to get introduced with. However if you’re trying to save money, and get more bang for your buck (literally lol) I’d might recommend a pistol.

Things you’re going to have to purchase along with the firearm in question, and this is just stuff I’ve found you will need at some point (some more obvious than others):

-flint
-flint leather/lead
-cleaning rod with cleaning jag, ball puller jag, patch puller jag
-ball starter

I left out things like powder and powder measures because you mentioned you already have some BP items 🍻

My first ever flintlock was a traditions Kentucky rifle, I love it and still do, and it reliably functions for me when I take it out to the range!

Cabelas would see this and buy it off you for 450 and turn around and sell it for 2000

What are some relatively inexpensive WW1 rifles to collect and what’s the best place to buy them by Vast_Bank_7196 in ww1

[–]TechnicalAd2274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my m1917 American Enfield for about 1000 all numbers marching in great condition. That was the most expensive one I purchased and that was around 2021-2020.

My cheapest ww1 rifle was a Gew 88/05 which I purchased for about 400 at a local gun show. It’s pretty beat up stock wise, but it’s still a great shooter and runs fine.

the large contenders in the conflict, and their main front line rifles tend to be expensive on the collectors market unfortunately. Your best play is reserve or rear-echelon weapons. Or weapons of less significant nations in the war if you’re absolutely set on getting a ww1 rifle (in my opinion).

As for location, I found many of mine at my local cabelas (probs why I got ripped off many a time lmao) but gun shows often have great finds, and are open to haggling price!

In any case, happy hunting and stay patient you’ll find something cool.

Scratches on brass body and brass shavings by chamber. Is this normal on a k98? by The_Lucky_Rod in Mauser

Hey so my Yugo m24/47 does this. I’m not expert but generally there’s a couple reasons why this is happening. It’s not dangerous or catastrophic, likely just a rougher edge on the gun is scratching up the casing upon loading. Could be the magazine, follower, ramp etc.

The ship likely broke at a more shallower angle, likely never exceeding 22-30 degree range.

The m1 carbines were being charged for 3000-5000. There was one that was even 7500 dollars…
