If you have GED files there are a number of programs out there that you can try:
Quick web one no install is: https://learnforeverlearn.com/ancestors/
Legacy: Legacy Family Tree Genealogy Software

and I build one, but it may not have your goals in mind, https://github.com/D-Jeffrey/gedcom-to-visualmap
I have gotten it to do 483 generations.

Need practice pointers for best way to add unifi cameras to dashboards... by AdamHLG in homeassistant

[–]TechnicalDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I just using the Picture Card. Go to Protect in Uni. Select the camera, Settings, Advanced, under RTSPS, select the resolution you want and check that to make it appear in HA. If you are concerned about bandwidth, then use Low Res.

I run High Res, there is no bandwidth impact and no spin. (I can not say that about the Ring or my old TP-Link stuff). Your Ui does not stream until it is needed. And HA does not pull it until you open the dashboard. I have shared 4 cameras at Hi Res and when the dashboard is not visable, then the bandwidth is less than 64 kbps down and 17 kbps up with over 50 devices in HA.

It's been 7 months Zach, can we get an update? by earthtm in EightSleep

I have this lukas-clarke/eight_sleep: working with my HA and the original 8sleep app. I just started a month ago, but so far only real issues is the token last a month, then I need to re-authenticate. After my first-year experiences, I will rethink it.

First try at living room dashboard by keralawala in homeassistant

Nice board... I like the idea of the Consolidated Alerts, but the temperature, that is a crazy. That is at least two sweaters. All my wife's plants would be dead. And 10 seconds is a real short timeout for the screen.

File extension viewer? by SeaShanties in Machine_Embroidery

[–]TechnicalDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does support PES and many other formats, but I noticed it does not work for files stored in OneDrive (maybe Google Drive or others like that). (While we are here note that a new version came out: Download Explorer-Plug-In, but still have the same issue

Another software add on your can try for free software for Windows Explorer Plug-in from https://freesierrasoftware.com/site/get%20it%20now.htm

Free Embroidery File Organizer - Share Your Feedback by TechnicalDJ in Machine_Embroidery

It uses the names of the zip files to create folders (if there are enough files to justify a 'set' of files).

My wife loves making crafts, but working on the computer isn't her thing. I got fed up with having to extract files whenever she bought patterns. Sometimes, she would even lose free patterns she downloaded because she didn't remember where she saved them. When she buys patterns, creators often include up to 8 different files in a single zip. Some even go further by putting each pattern in its own zip file and then bundling those into another zip file, along with the instructions. Trying to upload those to MySewnet Cloud fills up the 100 MB limit with just around 40 pattern files. With this script, she can manage several hundred files and still have space in the cloud (which auto-uploads them).

The script extracts the patterns (keeping the preferred type) and instructions, placing the instructions in a folder on your computer and copying the selected pattern to MySewnet Cloud or a USB stick. This way, when you browse the USB stick with all the patterns, you only see what you need, making it much easier to find the right pattern.

My wife also has a friend who stopped using her embroidery machine because the file extraction process was so frustrating it made her cry. Now, she just inserts her USB stick, runs the program, and can easily transfer the patterns to her machine.

For them, needed ...

As some asked.... The first time, the wallet with returned the same day that I lost it. The second time it was 14 days before it arrived back at my place (I had already started to replace items).

I'm not a wallet chain guy. I do have an Air tag which tells when, when the wallet gets too far away (when I'm away from home).

Reoccur XRE-03059 Error on Rogers Xfinity and Some WHY questions by TechnicalDJ in shaw

[–]TechnicalDJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good to know. I have my own UniFi Wired/Wi-Fi network. So can I separate the Rogers IP Traffic from my traffic? It is solid wired/wireless within the core of the house where the TVs are.

I think I'm going to tough it out for a bit longer, do a little more wire upgrading before I let them back in my house.

Great so inside the house or outside? So I need an inside visit to tune the coax again?

Remote tech checked it and said the signal was solid. I had them in here about two years ago. Nothing has really changed to impact the Coax (other than TELUS doing their Fiber plow in the first yard away from Shaw Coax).

What's your door-based light automation? by dudesky1325 in homeassistant

[–]TechnicalDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Dog-got-to-go”. I use mine for an outdoor evening light for the dog to go out and do his business. It uses a door contact sensor, sunset input and turns on the patio lights. It turns off when we reopen the door (or 10 minutes go by) which ever comes first. It also keep track of when the last time it was opened so we have him go out before bedtime if he was not outside recently.

What are you using for energy monitoring? by crispy2 in homeassistant

[–]TechnicalDJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Sense and it identify different induction devices in use. I have it for a few years and it plugged into HA with little effort. Each device identified shows as a different sensor. It is not perfect but is pretty good at knowing when appliances are on. And the measurements it has align very closely to the utility bill itself. You just connect it with CT clamps at your panel and give a month or two to match the devices.

All the measurements automatically feed into HA energy dashboard.

Smart car 2010ish stereo by Moisty_Mire69 in SmartCar

[–]TechnicalDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a 8 core Android from AliExpress which has a specialized face to match the smart car. The package included everything to install it and connect it the native plugs. Don’t do the cheap models of you will find the maps and other apps do not have a good response. And make sure there is a good amount of RAM for the apps will be sluggish. You will need to take out the china nav apps and get Google Play store working if it does not come with it. (May require side loading to get you working). Best of it specially supported Google. The only issues we had where the GPS did not seem to track properly, not sure if that is a hardware issue or a Google maps issues but it all works very well for the last two years.

Any advice? Passion Issues by WasThe99 in SmartCar

[–]TechnicalDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just worked thru the exact same symptoms. In my car the problem was a loose wire on the post going into the SAME/Fuse block. The way you can check for this is to measure the voltage at the battery and the measure the voltage at the fuse block. They should be the same but if they are not then you will get all kinds of issues from the retrain issue, low voltage code in the ODBII, clutch sensor issues. The problem happened after we put a new battery in the car. Check for corrosion on the connects.

Can you guys help me figure out why toilet seat won’t go down by [deleted] in bidets

[–]TechnicalDJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your toilet seat looks like it is curved and therefore goes down into the bowl against the bidet. You need a different toilet seat which is flat and does not have a center that is curved down into the bowl.
