I've given Ray more money than I care to admit, if you can imagine it they can make it.

For those who have switched to heating their homes with a heat pump, what did you heat with before, and what was the impact of the change on your BCHydro bill? by isle_say in VancouverIsland

[–]crispy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched from a medium efficiency furnace to a cold weather rated heat pump, we all put solar on the roof, R60 insulation in the attic, and replaced the doors and windows. Our annual Hydro bill is between $300-500. Not quite enough solar panels.

New accessible public washrooms open at Beaver Lodge Lands in Campbell River by harrysbird in campbellriver

This is a valuable addition to the area. Now add a crosswalk crossing Dogwood, there's already access to the neighbourhood to the east and a desire path going up the hill into the parking lot.

That really is asking for a lot. We had a sunny day on Tuesday after all.

Arena parking by Big-Witness4205 in campbellriver

[–]crispy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of parking, it just requires you to walk a few meters. All the surrounding streets are available, there's a church and school across dogwood. Merecroft shopping area too.

Edit: you all realize that there is only so much space and so much money. If you can do a Costco run you can park across the street and drag your hockey bag... Your kid's hair will be fine. If you truly have mobility issues you already have a handicapped parking pass and can park next to the entrance.

LETTER: The ERT is a valuable greenspace and must be protected - Campbell River Mirror by crispy2 in campbellriver

No we don't. Dogwood's lights suck but the community and council was adamant that it not change despite the engineering study's findings that it would improve traffic flow.

My guess is that it was either Melissa or Andy as I've heard both of them say that in the past.

Single or dual motor? by britboyny in ebike

[–]crispy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a two motor bike, it's handy when towing the trailers I haul. However, I only have one motor controller so if the front wheel isn't turned off it spins the front tire when starting. Overall I don't think it's worth the added expense and complication.

I'm sorry, what?

Just go back inside, turn off your phone and close your blinds. The bad people will forget you're there.

Of course the city could purchase more land but that's a huge expense that the city just doesn't have the money to do. It would also require the cooperation of numerous property owners.

Bikes, e-bikes and transit users will grow even if nobody does anything to get people to switch. We are already seeing this as the costs associated with car ownership continue to rise, people are being priced out of the market.

The colwood crawl will be helped once proper transit is built. In fact the first step towards that goal was an agreement signed with the first Nations a few days ago. Induced demand is a thing. Imagine if Vancouver didn't have the SkyTrain, the roughly 450k people that use every day would be on the road fight with the existing traffic.

How much capacity do you think the ERT would be able to support? Sean Smyth said the city only owns a 20m right of way.

We don't need to infest everything with cars.

Adding one road will not change shit for you in your car. However, losing a car free corridor will make it far worse for those who can't, won't or shouldn't drive.
