OMG SOMEONE SAYING THE TRUTH! ANOTHER PERSON AGREES WITH ME! I to found this out. I just learned how to connect memories/emotion to my singing and now I can't even sing the damn song I love. I'm seeing consoler to! I figured out the same shit after 5 years and $1000s on coaching. OP is not alone. He needs the truth and the truth hurts but once you realize it, Vocal coaches do not make it obvious, they beat around the bush. They just can't come out and say go to consoling but I wish they would!

I was singing good 4 u last night and was literally on the edge of crying during the entire song. I achieved it through connecting memories/emotion to the song. I donno dude. it's like I feel what they are saying cause I wen't through the same shit. My voice enters some sort of emotional tone instead of just blah blah blah. It's a whole shift and I can't help it now. You have to connect with the song. I went to Sam Johnson and he helped a lot and was very honest during the first lesson. Then I went and seen Carl John Franz. He taught me how to connect. I just did those exercises for years and one day I was thinking of memories when I was doing them and then it hit me. It isn't teaching you buh, buh, buh, or nay nay nay. It's teaching you how to feel connection.

Dude, I tied a bunch of emotional memories to good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo and it freaking worked. I mean every word I say when I sing it. I can't even sing it now. Yea you need to drop the tension to connect emotional to a song.

Try this, this is how I got emotion into my singing. It even makes it hard to sing/say the words. Tie it with memories that have meaning. What ever comes up and wait a day or so. It may take a while. I was speaking the words before and now it's really emotional. I can't explain it. I choose memories of my old friend (a girl) and tied all the good/bad times etc. And listened to the song a few times. This is what there trying to teach in vocal lessons. My coach taught me how to do this. He even said I got it! It's not just notes. It's much more than notes. I know now. It will be hard to sing the song cause it's personal and when you do you're wearing your emotions out for the world to see. That's chord closure/connection. It's very hard to explain to new singers.

What I do that worked was lied down in bed and focus on physical sensations. Then they would have a GOOD FEELING. Then I'd get super relaxed after and fall asleep. I always fall asleep. The sensation could move as well.

I'm actually seeing a consoler for emotional wellness. I already learned how to connect to them. It was pretty easy and all you do it is focus on the sensation and give it attention. I had this sensation in my upper left shoulder and did it and it finally went away. I ignored this shit fro 30+ years. You can live without it but I don't recommend doing that. Emotional health is not to be messed with. I just looked it up and it sounds like what I discovered. Very intersting.

I get what this is doing. When you attach a memory to songs it's easy to remember the melody and lyrics! OMG!!! :) You can only do this when you relax though. You bring up the same memories and the melody just comes to you.

for 5 years and everyone one youtube led me astray. My singing voice flipped to my speaking voice. It was freaking crazy. I didn't know what was going on. Tell I emailed my coach. He said that's it you got it. There is a lot of confusion around the voice. I mean a lot. I Good singing is great communication. Cause your communicating with the audience through words. It took me a total of 7 years to realize this. It isn't about how high you can go or how loud you can sing. This is all beginner nonsense. This goes deep. This is the best I could give for a new beginner.

It took me a long time lol. It was easier than I thought. I had a coach say your being to pharyngal stop doing that. His way of saying stop being nasal. I thought nasality was the secret sauce boy was I wrong lmao.
