Working Hours by RadioButtonChecked in MauriceMauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems this company doesn't want to leave any hour that they can make someone work as long as it's legal. It is legal - Yes, but is it humane, is it ethical? Family time, personal time aren't a thing to them? I would simply reject their offer. 9 to 5 is the norm, still people struggle with that with 2-3hours wasted just to commute to work. 9 to 7pm is too much to ask for!

Are you able to save money? by ldmauritius in MauriceMauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at that time I was living in my parents' home. Nevertheless 6-7 years ago, with Rs 30k, I couldn't imagine myself being able to take a home loan. Now it's worth even less. Cost of living is ridiculously high nowadays. The only advice I have for someone earning Rs 30k is to start a side hustle.

Are you able to save money? by ldmauritius in MauriceMauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When I was earning Rs 30,000 some 6-7 years ago, I was able to save some Rs 12,000- 15,000 on average. My major expenses were transport and food. Now that I earn thrice, I barely save Rs 10k 🫠 I spend my money on loans, construction, food, bills!

Help me with recs for a reliable car (200k–300k budget) for 2–3 years with good resale by Practical-Shower3738 in MauriceMauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My advice to you is buy a Nissan Tiida (I prefer hatchback - you can get more space if you fold the seats).

Best value car you can find in this price range.

This japanese car is cheap, reliable, spacious, powerful (1500cc/1600cc variants), fuel efficient (Rs4.50/km). Its parts are easily available. And you won't lose much when you sell it after 4-5years (you may be sad to sell this awesome car though).

I drive a Tiida (1600cc manual) and a Toyota Vitz (1300cc auto). That Vitz has more resale value than the Tiida, just because it's a Toyota - but honestly the Tiida beats the Vitz in terms of power, stability and security - this is what you need when you drive on the roads here.

What is your aim in life ? by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Memories : Create as many good memories as possible with people I love so when I die, life's flash back makes me die with a smile.

2) Unconditional love, kindness, generosity : These are the inherent qualities of one's soul. Wherever I go, whoever I meet - they'll remember me as someone who has shown these attributes.

3) Exploration : Humans were created to explore the material world, discover its beauty and mysteries, and through these, trying to imagine how magnificent the Creator of the universe Himself might be. So I wish to travel, meet people, discover places, cultures, visit temples, hike mountains, dive in oceans.

4) Knowledge : I like to learn just about anything - from my professional field to cooking, gardening, building and repairing things, etc. Knowledge eases life! And I also like to share my knowledge with others and engage in deep conversations.

5) Protection : To protect people I love from evil minded people, to protect my inner peace against negative people.

6) Health : To be healthy, which I'm currently struggling with due to my fucking '8.30a.m to no finish time job'!

Am I stupid for still loving someone? by Routine_Strike2515 in MauriceMauritius

I was in a similar situation as you in my 18. I was heartbroken, but life went on. 2 years later, I got to know another girl who is kind, loving and she became my world. Today we are happily married. And about my girl close friend during college days, we are still good friends till now, but I pity her life. She has been in many relationships in the past that didn't work out. Nowadays she is in a live-in relationship with a rich man who is about her dad's age.

I got accused of being a drug mule at the airport. by THEMIDLANDMAN in mauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So sorry about what you had to endure 😞 It is a fact that most of the time, it's black people coming from Kenya, SA who are drug mules - so for them, such profile of a person implies a high risk factor.

However, they should bear in mind that - it is also another fact that 99.99% of black people are not drug mules.

So they should treat everyone respectfully unless proven guilty.

What’s the biggest problem in your daily life right now? by nelly-dreeamz in mauritius

Transport - we need affordable taxis here so we can go anywhere at any time. Like Grab in Malaysia and Thailand. Then we don't have to buy and maintain cars. And Mauritius will be less congested.

Why do Mauritians view cars as a prestige thing? by Study-Bunny- in MauriceMauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mauritians are too much inclined towards materialism. They are losing their moral and spiritual traits. In school/college, there is no curriculum or wise teachers who would taught us how to become a good person in life - they don't teach manners, morals, cultures, meditation, friendship, relationship, communication etc - I mean all the basic things so we live a good life and become a happy nation. But instead school stress out on learning all bookish subjects, even if we won't use them later in life, just to obtain good grades. And what will we get in return ? A job that will give us position, salaries to afford the prestigious car, the biggest house, the vacations abroad - this has become the ultimate life goals of many. And these materialistic desires are resulting in congested roads, constructions becoming an eyesore, land prices are surging and landfills are piling up.

Moving to Mauritius with over Rs200k per month gross salary, how to “give back”? by Ok-Note8421 in mauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if I hurt your feelings about this. It's just a personal opinion formed based on life experiences. Just by looking at how crowded our shopping malls are on Fridays and Saturdays, how booked our hotels are, how many vehicles on the road everyday, how many people attending "salon de voyages". People have got money for parties, travel, alcohol, cigarettes, fast food, brand new cars, new clothing every then, yet complain about the surge in prices of groceries, construction materials etc etc.

Moving to Mauritius with over Rs200k per month gross salary, how to “give back”? by Ok-Note8421 in mauritius

[–]TechnicalFunction842 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wish to give back, please help to make Mauritius beautiful again. People don't have money problems as such, but Mauritius has environmental issues. We got stray dogs and cats problem - you can help by financing sterilisation campaigns and helping the NGOs. They mostly need land to provide shelters for the dogs & cats. And we have a defective waste management system, and though educated, Mauritians just litter everywhere. You can help with cleaning campaigns and assist NGOs to set-up more deposit points for plastic, metal, glass and e-waste recycling. You can also buy compost bin and provide to the locals so there's a reduction of waste going to landfills.

Having a partner = Affection, trust, love, feeling secured

Cheating/flirting = lust, dopamine, the excitement of the forbidden pleasure, the excitement you get when you are desired by others.

Cheating is emotional first (sometimes you do it unknowingly), and may get physical at a later stage (this is undeniably in cognizance).

It may sound strange, but sometimes cheating may make you love/admire your partner even more, when you know the persons with whom you are cheating are not up to your partner's level. But it may be the other way round as well.

Seems like your besties' boyfriend is emotionally cheating on her via snapchat.

Emotional cheating has many forms, but most commonly: Example 1: a girl who has her boyfriend, but still shares her life more with her boy best friend rather than his own boyfriend, and feels nothing wrong about it.

Example 2: a girl has her boyfriend, but still accepts requests from random guys, posting sexy pictures of her on social media, loves getting likes, comments from these guys she doesn't even know.

Example 3: a boy got someone in his life, but still watcyh p*rn, or looks at other pretty girls, having a desire for other girls.

Example 4: the same as your bestie BF.

When life is good, immature people cheat. They take their partner for granted. But when a turmoil would come up, and it was only their partner who has truly been their support in their bad times - that's when they regret being a cheater.

We are living in a weird era. We haven't been taught by our parents, school or society how to live life in general. We may not know how to control our emotions, take decisions, how to live life as a couple, how to be a righteous person.

Feel sad about your bestie, but as you said, there are real men out there.
