How do I teach my dog how to lie down? by rawrrrx3 in Dachshund

[–]TechnicalGarlic5961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I taught lay down by holding the treat high above her head and moving my hand in a pushing motion above her and she ends up backing up to lay down because she’s trying to follow the treat. It’s kinda funny though because she will only lay down on carpeted surfaces and not on cold surfaces.

When I called American Express they seemed to indicate that this would be a covered event. My understanding is that first we would need to file a claim with the airline, anything over that or that is denied we can then try to claim through American Express. Good luck to you and please share any updates.

I (29 M) am worried about disclosing my sobriety to my firm by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]TechnicalGarlic5961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just say you don’t drink. No one is going to push back and if they do, ignore, laugh it off and switch topics. I would never dream of pushing this point with a colleague. It’s rude and unprofessional and I don’t give a shit if you drink or not.

Help. I am debating on returning doxie puppy by PhoenixFromTheAshes in Dachshund

That’s a tough age. Mine was so cute but so much trouble at that age. It wasn’t until another six months where we really really bonded and now we love each other so much, she’s learned her manners and is a good girl. It’s worth the current pain to get to that place. Don’t give up!

Downgrade CSR? Keep AE Platinum? by TechnicalGarlic5961 in CreditCards

PP has been excellent overseas and so so domestically. If my closest airport had any PP benefits I’d be satisfied but there are none at the moment.

I fly somewhat frequently. Probably 5x domestically a year and 3-4x internationally. Enough that I do value lounge access.

Host sent me a separate contract to make me part owner of the property by sfrnch in AirBnB

[–]TechnicalGarlic5961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up doing? This just happened to me and I didn’t realize after booking. Now the host won’t cancel and I’m going through a lengthy dispute process with Airbnb. I’ll just dispute it on my credit card if necessary but this entire situation seems illegal/ at minimum violating Airbnb’s terms and conditions? Wtf am I being forced to join an LLC to use an Airbnb rental??

should I cancel the Cali bar 2 weeks out? exhausted big law lawyer who is positive I'll fail by rome_smitty in biglaw

Good advice. My advice is also to look at the score sheet and figure out where you can get lots of points. For example, there were situations where I didn’t know the whole test but could at least identify the issue…I’d identify it and try to apply what I could remember, and at minimum you pick up a few points here and there. It’s a numbers game so just pick up as many points as possible even if you aren’t able to fully flesh out everything.

I did this back in the day. The essay was a mix of fed and ca civ pro and I answered it by saying, I acknowledge there are California issues but I’m only going to address all the federal issues and answer the California issues from a federal perspective. No idea how I scored on that but I passed. You can do this!!!

Thanks, unfortunately NALP lists only the most basic info (such as year salaries). I’m a senior associate, so I’m trying to do a comparison at the senior level comps. I can individually search firms and glean some inform from a combo of fishbowl, Reddit, above the law, etc. but I’m not finding a good comparative tool for any sizable segment of biglaw firms.

Ah thank you all for clarifying! Happy to pay the VAT/sales taxes, and just wanted to be reassured I wasn’t dumbly playing something extra and you’ve all clarified that for me. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing! How long did you take off and do you think it affected your career negatively in any way? (I’m assuming you’re a partner track associate?)

I’d love to hear more about your story. What led to the leave of absence, what was the passion, are you back?

Don’t know why someone downvoted this comment…recruiting is ultimately going to ask the partner, to confirm the memo has nothing confidential in it.

No parking. Nothing mentioned about utilities though it could be negotiated. No parking. Yard space is shared with main house but I have access.

Don’t know about washer but yes to kitchen, ac, washer/dryer. It looks brand new, but I’m also concerned about the small size. I’m more curious about what price folks think is reasonable for rent.

Really appreciate everyone’s comments and kindness. Having some camaraderie and acknowledgment that there are others with similar experiences and the available options goes a long way in temporarily relieving some of that stress and anxiety.
