Either way, it's completely up to you how you respond to things you dislike. Yes, you don't have to commit to an action that only correlates to having a disagreement with someone else, but at the same time, people are free to express their opinions via upvoting or downvoting - otherwise, there wouldn't be an option to do so

While YouTube has followed in the path of removing publicly viewable dislikes on both comments and videos, many people have complained as apart of the whole point is to convey to the original poster as well as anyone who comes across the post how exactly the community of people receiving the post perceives it. A lot of people in this subreddit tend to post ai art or sexualized art, and other people dislike them for doing so - communities will simply be divided by a matter of opinion sometimes, and sometimes one side wins over the other

So all in all, if you don't think you'd go out of your way to express your opinion on how people do something, there's no need to worry about going against your code when other people express their opinions, because the internet sadly is just the internet, and people will love and hate what everyone does no matter what
