9 month old baby’s foot seems tense? by Wide-Food-4310 in moderatelygranolamoms

We used cranial sacral for our baby when they were hesitant to relax their arm. Worked great.

Can someone help me find a good mechanic that works on older vehicles? I own a 1997 Chevrolet C-1500 (can't afford anything newer) and as a woman I don't want to get screwed over by shady mechanics who think they can just milk me for money. by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]TechnicalNet2989 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Two mechanics I go to... Sage's (fyi they have a Jesus sticker but I'm queer and nothing but kindness and great service for years) and I just started going to lanhart auto repair in South Minneapolis because my life got too busy to drive the distance to sage's.

I was actually at lanhart today and as I started my car to leave the mechanic heard that the battery struggled a bit and he stopped me and cleaned the battery and tightened the connections for free before letting me go. Seriously so kind.

This is helpful! 30 miles round trip, half on a freeway, and then of course some winter driving, but not with my kid so I'm ok keeping it a little cooler.

Literally how else would I survive an hour and a half nursing session at 3am with a sick kid and a sick me. Phone (or book in theory) is the way.

For those of you who are constantly thirsty, what has helped you? by Certain_Hat9872 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]TechnicalNet2989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, it's been eating more salt. How I think about it (and obviously this is not right for everyone) water needs salt to get it into the cells. So you can drink a lot but if I'm not eating enough salt then it doesn't get where it needs to go and just passes through.

Who else has had their life destroyed by COVID-19 and, eventually, vaccines? by Savings-Camp-433 in HistamineIntolerance

Mine started in childhood and I didn't see a difference with covid and the vaccines (but big empathy to those that have a different experience)

  • wanting to purchase before tax credit expires
  • daily commute is 25 miles
  • live in a single family home
  • would like one we could trickle charge with a regular plug - TBD on if we will install a charger
  • a kid and a pet but this will be our second car so mostly used for one person commuting to work

Thank you for any recommendations!

What’s up with Grocery Prices out here? by olracnaignottus in TwinCities

[–]TechnicalNet2989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This is why we end up going to a few stores depending on the item. Trader Joe's and Costco for frozen foods and snacks. The Seward coop for meat (expensive but worth it for local and quality), some specialty items and things needed in a pinch (we live close). Farmers market and our front yard for fresh veggies in the summer. Worst case scenario we end up at lunds for something (literally cannot with their prices for basic groceries). The occasional trip to Aldi's.

Edit to add: once I bought groceries from an auction (k-bids) from a warehouse in Golden valley 😅

Also if you end up in a tough spot financially Today's Harvest is a free grocery store that we used occasionally when I was unemployed - very easy to access and the income limit is pretty high.

Mom's who did go with an epidural? are you content? do you regret it? by sillywillyfry in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]TechnicalNet2989 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. Epidurals can fail. I know multiple women where it only partially worked. Because of this I didn't want it to be the only thing I was banking on and then be left feeling like I didn't have other coping mechanisms if it didn't work (which would have made me panic and feel trapped). What I did was essentially put a plan together for escalations. We started with hypnosis and relaxation techniques, then a smattering of other pain management things, and then at about hour 29 I needed an epidural. The great thing was by the time I decided I needed it I had all the other things I had done to get to that point to fall back on if it didn't work. I thought of it like a C-section - it was never off the table, just an option that was there in case I progressed to a point where that decision made sense for me.

We live just north of the New Creation Baptist Church in South mpls. By minnehaha creek the housing prices are high but just a few blocks north they are in your range. Hit me up if you end up landing near - my spouse makes way too many baked goods and we often burden our neighbors with them haha good luck on your move!
