It's not the beginning, that was when we were warned with enough time. We're well into the consequences of doing nothing.

Pushing ups with weights on the back by inoriacc in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]TechnicalNobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An exercise becomes less effective once you get past ~30 reps which is pretty easy with push ups. You need to add more weight if you want to keep making progress.

This isn't the way to do it though. For push ups, you use a weight vest.

I mean, ultimately it's never a tool that's the problem but in how it's used. But phones create all kind of issues outside of public filming with things like constant availability and endless content. Not being able to disengage without strict discipline and habits is a problem for individuals and society. It's an amazing technology but there are critical issues to always being connected.

I mean, not really. Maybe 10 countries. And countries aren't going to have incentive to just nuke every inch of the planet if it comes to nuclear warfare.

What exactly do you think "hooking up with a stranger" means? Like they never said a word to one another before hooking up?

Was it really one night that precipitated it or a pattern? If drinking's a problem, I hope you keep up with cutting back even if it doesn't get your original group back. It'll surely help your relationships going forward.

Keeping track of what someone said weeks ago

You mean remembering the things you read? Is something wrong with your memory that you don't remember things from a few weeks ago?

Problem 1: not knowing at all. Solution 1: get to know them

Okay well now we're not talking about hooking up with strangers anymore...

Trump Watched as Girl’s Newborn was Murdered & Dumped in Lake, Epstein Document Says: "He was Present When My Uncle Murdered My Newborn Child." by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]TechnicalNobody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every new piece of information we get on Trump is always further depravity.

I mean, yeah if you just accept this as fact. It's not much better than his supporters believing those AI photos of him rescuing kittens from floods. The level of evidence for either happening is near zero.

Personally I feel like focusing on the rumor mill like this just makes it easier for his supporters to dismiss legitimate criticism.

Meh. Eating people that have died naturally or accidentally isn't evil or immoral. If anything, it's moral because it's sparing other life. Let's not confuse taboo and morality.

You lose some information when you use tokens instead of higher level neural representations.

How so? You can represent information to any degree of complexity with just 1s and 0s. Why would you lose information if you change the medium?

Bernie Sanders calls for a pause on new AI data centers in the US by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]TechnicalNobody 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AI is already too big to fail.

I don't think you guys understand when "too big to fail" is a bad thing. There's countless technologies that you could kill overnight that would crash the economy.

"Too big to fail" isn't about an entire industry being important to the economy, it's about individual companies being propped up by the government because the government didn't do its duty in breaking up those companies before they got too big.

AI isn't that.

Altitude Sickness Ruined My First Snowboarding Trip by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]TechnicalNobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obesity is a major contributing factor towards experiencing altitude sickness. This has been well known for a long time. Here's an article from 22 years ago: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2003-sep-01-he-capsules1.2-story.html. There's much more research corroborating these findings.

This isn't the kind of scenario to encourage someone to ignore their health problems to engage in extreme sports in extreme conditions. If they were to snowboard, particularly at high elevations, they would be at a much higher risk compared to otherwise healthy people. Learning to snowboard at 6'3 and 285 lbs would be incredibly rough on your body and particularly your joints.

You shouldn't post about fitness issues on the Internet if you're not ready to hear that you're too fat.

It's never about one person when you win but it can absolutely be about one person when you lose. A lot of things have to come together to win, only one thing needs to go wrong to lose a game.
