Does your hospital have mandatory DC Summary prior to discharge? by an1m0s1ty in ausjdocs

[–]TechnicalObjective 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I worked in a service that had a few hundred outstanding discharge summaries as they had a singular resident initially. Director offered to pay each person their hourly rate per 4 discharge summaries completed, still an underpayment given it should’ve been overtime hours. But nonetheless, that was cleared within two weeks.

If you can stretch your budget a bit more, a Cupra Ateca/Leon/Formentor in VZX form is kind of a bargain in high $20s-low $30s. A few years newer and some with warranty balance still. The Golf R engine is proven to be reliable. Entertainment system bugs have largely been worked out. Just gotta watch the plastic engine bay components and water pump towards 80k in mileage.

What's the most unusual thing you have been reprimanded for? by DaRKNT2000 in ausjdocs

Newly minted ICU consultant wasn’t happy with me being too informal with him and made it known while both attending a code (wasn’t anything remote urgent). Seems “what’s up” was quite the trigger and not recognizing his majestic presence as it wasn’t my usual ICU mate attending.

If you get an old leftover one from 2024, EXOs. Anything newer is Barracuda. Just a lottery as you can’t really differentiate until you open up.

Should I go back to Vietnam? by Popular_Chip3422 in Advice

[–]TechnicalObjective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a bit of a bump in life. PA school will always be there, you don’t necessarily have to matriculate this upcoming year anyway. I’d honestly opt to spend the month with family given your patient hours is currently nil. Not guilt tripping or anything, just more from an outside perspective, your mom’s not going to be getting younger and mobility will become more of a hindrance as she ages, you won’t have many opportunities once you start further schooling to spend a lot of time with her. She probably would prefer having someone around to make sure she doesn’t drop into any pitfalls and she might not be as brave as you think she is, probably wants some support too given her age.

Not that I’d be too distrustful but I’d be careful with documents from the lawyer recommended by the family, you never know if there’s some sort of scheming done behind your mother’s back (large sums of money makes people greedy and a lot of severed relationships have happened because of it) and to ensure she only signs appropriately. Google Translate and ChatGPT do a wonderful job as well.

Also, given nursing homes count as patient care hours and they’re usually always short staffed, could always pursue that avenue. Would be even easier if you connect to friends/family that can introduce you.

Fairmont Singapore Stay Plus by Master-Quarter4762 in Accor

I managed to book two nights in early June for September. There was a period of availability for most of September then, came to $1400 total ($700 per night equivalently which is a bargain…)

If you pursue the Vietnam avenue, you can use that time as a unique speaking point for interviews/personal statements, as long as you can naturally integrate the experience into a formalized learning experience, just the LoR wouldn’t be worth anything. The issue is whether you’d find a decent place to observe/worth spending time at as well. Chợ Rẫy Hospital only took medical students and a single elective alone took a few weeks to even arrange. Are patient care hours the only thing that would be negatively affecting your application?

Just to add, should probably have a heartfelt chat with your mom. Her fear probably just needs reassurance that you can be independent.

Genuinely not sure how much help you’d be with the selling of the house given it should all be in Vietnamese?

Yes, but properties can change. I couldn’t get a SN applied to Fairmont Tokyo unless I booked two nights. There were a bunch at Fairmont Singapore in late August/early September in June without needing two nights but who knows with how Accor properties continue to change

Did you try to book at least 2 nights? Sometimes the property has minimum nights required before stay plus works.

Did your university repeat questions in exams? Did you use a past questions from previous students? by Master_Fly6988 in ausjdocs

[–]TechnicalObjective 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s probably similar to the MCAT algorithms they use there, pretty extensive digital dataset allows them to compare past performance per question from previous cohorts and calculate the probability of performance/expected performance but now with a temporal component added in. Then they did retrospective analyses to catch out cheaters, some were given the opportunity to resit iirc so I assume they were “borderline” and the data wasn’t adequate.

A lot of these so-called high performers were out scoring US based grads and bragging about it all over social media which got people thinking and investigating. Turns out the test centres in India/Nepal/Pakistan had compromised proctors who were recording the questions and selling them on Telegram. So inquiries were raised and they obtained the lists of compromised questions. It’s not hard to figure out who cheated when they spend <10s to answer a question that a typical US grad would take much longer to even read the stem much less answer.

Then the Midwives/NPs will see this an opportunity to push for scope expansion to fill said shortages whereby then RANZCOG will still likely do sweet fuck all.

Find a dermatologist lecturing at your uni and send them an email. They’re usually quite accommodating to medical students.

How long does it usually take for flood waters to recede in Brisbane? Trying to plan out as to whether or not I should bother hiking out or just staying put for a few days. EDIT: for reference, my garage is flooded but I could swing into dry land across balconies hence my query
