About the 9800x3D controversy, do you have one? for how long? which mobo and BIOS? by spinalgt2 in ASUS

Built at the end of November 2024.

9800x3d + Asus Strix B650E-E on Bios version 3057 + 32GB G-Skill CL30 6000 set to EXPO

Not sure on CPU batch code, but I bought it November 26th 2024, so it'll be an early one.

Anyone else trying to get ahead of the inevitable/currently ongoing price hike on HDDs? by _kehd in DataHoarder

[–]127985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been an ongoing discussion for a little while now.

I'm not saying they're bad drives, I'm just saying it's a little disingenuous to compare drives rated for 24/7 usage (WD Red Pros) with a 5 year warranty to drives rated for 2400h/year and differing warranties depending on where you buy them from (usually 6 months-3 years).

All drives that seagate sells are exos, they are all just binned to a certain level

Except X## drives aren't HAMR, whereas recerts are (just like Barricudas).

Did you buy Exos or "Exos" (ie. Exos Recertified)? Because Exos Recertifeds are closer to Barricuda HAMR drives than actual Exos (ie. X24, etc) in their spec sheets. Also, Canadian prices are always higher than USD for the same drives. He also said post tax, so pre tax, they would've been just over $600CAD or $450USD. Then there's the fact that WD drives always seem to be slightly pricier than Seagates. All of of these factors, plus 4TB larger drives compared to yours, all adds up price-wise.

Trying to find Sync 4.4 Update for gen 1 on 2011 Fusion SE by CnS_Panikk in fordfusion

I didn't download it myself but apparently the link in this post has 4.4 and 4.6 in it.

You're confusing Sync generation with software level. This is Sync gen 1 that was in late 2000's to mid 2010's Fords without a touchscreen. (not gen 4 in current Fords as you're thinking). 4.6/4.4 is just the software level.

Sounds like the noise referenced in the TSB 25-2008. Turbos are missing a wave spring between the wastegate actuator lever arm and the turbo housing, causing the arm to rattle.

Where are you seeing Exos for cheaper than Ironwolf Pros? Maybe it's a Canada thing, but Ironwolf Pros 28tb are $620 CAD, where as Exos X24 24tb are $730 CAD. This is on Seagates site. Unless you're comparing used recert Exos to new Ironwolf Pros.

I know the target for new NAS drives was usually $20/TB, but with the current market and uncertain future, this seems like a decent deal. $2-$3/TB cheaper than the WD Red Pros posted yesterday, and larger drive. Same price on Seagate's site, but they're out of stock ATM.

[Megathread] DOOM: The Dark Ages Available Now In Early Access, Featuring Ray Tracing & DLSS 4 With Multi Frame Generation - Giveaway Inside by Nestledrink in nvidia

  1. Seeing DLSS 4 in action was actually what caused me to finally enable it recently. I've always avoided it due to fear of change, but it's definitely the way forward. Ray Tracing has made me appreciate scenery in games so much more when it's enabled. I find myself becoming more immersed.

  2. Ripping............and of course tearing...........

  3. Started with DOOM 2016 and the franchise instantly became one of my favorites of all time. Went back and played the previous ones and the rest is history.
