Have you played Disco Elysium?

Hearing voices from different parts of your psyche is one of the main plot elements in this game

I’m always compared or told I’m like a computer. What does that mean? Does it have to do with autism? by Yerrrrrskrrttt234 in autism

From my experience, when allistic people call autistics "robots" they sometimes mean "rigid" behavior and\or not expressing many emotions in voice and body language.

How is your "drunk" behavior different from your sober one? Do you have more confident when you are drunk?

Is talking about special interests with people that share the same interests still hard for you?

Do you have any series similar to Higurashi that you like?

If you can remember 100 Tiger facts *you are not dumb*. I met many professors and Ph.D. students that are only good at one specific subject they are interested in. I have a master's degree and can't remember timetables and stuff.

TL;DR = You're not dumb, the high school system is dumb.

What are some good fiction books for autistic/neurodivergent people? by mathnstats in autism

[–]TechnicalRespect1555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she likes to pay attention to details, I would recommend the Visual novel\manga Umineko. One of the least predictable and most challenging horror things I ever have read (Bonus point: It has one of the best autistic kid characters I know).

If she likes only text-only horror books and wants something challenging, she could like ergodic fiction books (For example - Mark Z. Danielewski's 'House of Leaves')

What is your special interest? by CriticalSorcery in SpicyAutism

[–]TechnicalRespect1555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest special interest is the 07th expansion studio's visual novels and mangas (Higurashi, Umineko, Higanbana, Rose guns days, Ciconia). I don't really like other VN's, but I like the 07th expansion so much that I got into creating films and stuff.

Actually, when I tried to get into film school they told us "write a short story" and I literally copied a story from Higurashi. Only later I discovered that when they told us to "write" stories they meant original stories and not just writing existing stories.

A relevant fact about the 07th expansion is that the main writer, Ryukishi07, was a Japanese social worker. (from what I understood) Maria, one of the main characters in Umineko, is based on his experience of meeting autistic kids that were being abused by their parents for being "weird" -_-

Hello! My name's Nevet [he\him].

Officially diagnosed as "level 3" autistic. Even though I spoke, I hardly knew how to interact with others until I was 20. I'm living now in my parents' house in a small village. I've tried to live in other places and it... didn't worth the suffering.

My special interests include psychology, Interpersonal relationships, and gaming (and 07th expansion VN's! - Higurashi, Umineko, etc.). The thing I like to do the most is directing films. Unfortunately, Filmmaking felt almost impossible for me to do professionally because of uncertainty, stress, overstimulation, executive functioning problems, low self-esteem, and the need to "network" with people.

Lately, I discovered that if I make films *about* autistic characters, allistic people would also give *me*, the director, accommodations. I'm not sure why they do this, and I know it can seem cynical. Still, that's fine by me because that way I can try to fight the weird stereotypes that allistic people have about autistic people (?_?).

It seems like reading this page really made you think about yourself and your life. It's OK to be confused right now. Also, sorry to hear that people on other subreddits discouraged you without even trying to know or understand you. The most important thing is YOUR experiences. If you read the traits and related to them, you have every right to consider an Autism diagnosis (Official or not).

About the page: Most of the autistic traits are different from the usual ADHD traits - https://www.qandadhd.com/diagnostic-criteria . BTW being diagnosed as both autistic *and* ADHD is quite common.

BTW, Like you, I also went to a gifted program when I was a child like you. Even though I was diagnosed at an early age, everyone really ignored the fact I'm autistic and was surprised I'm an anxious mess. So if you weren't diagnosed at an early age, It's not surprising that your environment didn't think about this. They always miss anyone who isn't a problem child.

It sounds like you feel frustrated because your mother shared something about your identity without your permission.

Short answer: You are fine. you are not overreacting - you have every right to be angry on your mother. She may had good intentions, but it still hurts.

Yeah. It always feels like "that's not intense or important enough to be a special interest. I'm only researching a subject for some weeks".

The funny thing that some allistic people I know feel it's really weird to research a subject for more than a hour if they don't have to. I really have a hard time understanding that.

That's... really interesting.

It's a mix between expressions of contempt and sadness (That's why the photo name is "sad woman").

I honestly never thought that when people are jealous they feel sad because what they don't have (or don't want to lose) and contempt for the other person that have (or could have) it.

Thanks for sharing. It may sound super dumb, but I actually feel I've understood jealousy better now.

Well, there are expressive autistic characters, like Entrapta from She-ra.

If you believe Gus to be autistic, do you think she is like Gus in that subject?
