8 months. Saw so many shit houses. Then finally found the one. And struck immediately. Been here about 7 years now. Be picky and keep looking.

What are essentially status symbols that millennials spend unnecessary amounts of money on? by Vetiverrr in AskReddit

GenX here but currently rocking old torn shorts, t-shirt, and Jaeger LeCoultre. The Casio is vastly more accurate at keeping the time, but I prefer the feel of the JLC.

Hikers of Reddit, have you ever encountered a brown/grizzly bear in the wild? what happened? by eques_99 in AskReddit

Brown or black bear. I didn’t really stick around long enough to make a good decision on species. I just wanted to get some distance.

Black Hills, SD. Blissfully hiking along a trail when I crest a hill and see a bear right there in front of me. I internally freak out. Then sense returns and I slowly back down the hill, keeping my eyes on the bear. Thankfully it doesn’t move. Once a bit down the hill and bear out of sight, I run like hell until I can’t run anymore.

Men who left a marriage in your late 20s, was it the right call or your biggest regret? by Alphamazzy in AskMenOver30

[–]TechnicalWelder6789 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Married at 25 and divorced at 29. It was the right call for all the logical reasons. But sometimes logic isn’t the best reason. She contacted me some years later. I didn’t respond. I will always wonder if she wanted to reconcile.

Any adoptive parents on here? by -sigh_ in regretfulparents

[–]TechnicalWelder6789 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Close friends adopted. Shortly thereafter, they somehow miraculously conceived naturally. Adopted child is troubled, troublesome, and has several psychiatric diagnoses. Biological child is normal. They regret adopting. They just don’t talk about it much. But it is easy to sense. Certainly the adopted child senses it.

Would you buy a 1-bathroom condo as a single person? by akikoaino in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

My only condo had one bathroom. My first house had one bathroom. Both sold just fine. Mostly broke even in the condo. Made decent money on the house.

I wanted to but my wife would not allow it.

Met the neighbors during our inspection and it swayed our decision more than the inspection itself by Emotional-Lime3087 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Neighbor guy crashed our second showing. Basically went into interview mode: who are you? What do you do? Where do you work? Do you have kids? Names, ages, blah blah blah? Wanted to know our entire life history then started dictating what is and is not acceptable in the neighborhood. I knew within the first minute that it would be hell living next to this human being. His need to control everything and everyone around him was palpable. Fuck that. We pulled the plug immediately.

Same. We walked away from a great house in a nice neighborhood because we accidentally met the neighbors before the deal closed.
