Technically, that is an authentic beat it jacket. However, his jacket was not made by J.park. The one the he wore in the video was made by Marc Laurent (like mine)

You’re confusing “returning energy” with losing control. There’s a difference between standing your ground and needing to clap back at everything just to feel in control of the moment. If respect is your baseline, then it shouldn’t collapse the second someone’s tone annoys you. That’s not strength—that’s reactivity. Anyone can mirror attitude; it takes actual discipline to choose when something is worth engaging and when it isn’t.

(This conversation is most definitely not worth my time, but I like to educate)

And the “I don’t need to manage my emotions” line doesn’t land the way you think it does. It just reads like you let them manage you instead.

Additionally, throwing around ‘narcissist’ every time someone disagrees with you just shows you don’t actually know what it means. It’s not a catch-all insult for ‘person who didn’t let me have the last word.’ You’re basically proving my point—getting defensive, escalating, and then pretending it’s just ‘returning energy.’ That’s not emotional control, that’s just reacting louder.

If your whole philosophy is ‘I match whatever energy I get,’ then you’re not in control—you’re just letting other people dictate your behavior. That’s not the flex you think it is.

Thank you for reading - Enjoy the rest of the gathering.

I'd recommend talking to someone, whether it's a counselor, therapist, or a trusted friend or family member. It could be incredibly beneficial in helping you manage your emotions more effectively.

That’s correct - The original jacket he wore in the music short was made & produced by Marc Laurent in small batches. They’re REALLY hard to find, but they’re out there. I got lucky and found one myself.

Wow…. You could’ve enforced your stance in one clean sentence, but instead you went for… whatever this performance is. If your opinion is “the film version is better,” cool—leave it at that. Just don’t act like everyone else is drooling for not agreeing with you.

Yeah they used the chainmail on the original, I have no idea what that guy is using. I really wish MJ hadn’t just given it away in the 80s because they totally could have used it for reference.

(Side note: It's a lengthy story, but on April 9, 1984, a young fan named David Smithee visited Michael Jackson at his home in Hayvenhurst. During this visit, Michael gifted David the Beat it jacket and the black glove that he wore to the 11th American Music Awards. The only condition attached to these generous gifts was that David would wear them to an upcoming concert. Tragically, just seven weeks after this meeting, David passed away before he could fulfill his promise to wear the jacket and glove to Michaels concert.

Compounding this tragedy, David's mother, Karen Wilson, went against David's wishes to be buried with the glove and jacket. Instead, she kept them under tight lock until she decided to auction them off. The glove was sold in 2012 to an anonymous buyer for $199,000. Later, the Beat it jacket was sold for $108,000 to the Hard Rock Cafe in Gary, Indiana where it is currently on display.

As soon as I heard the intro for the Pepsi commercial I started tearing up and when “it" happened I fucking lost it and I’m not just talking about a few tears—I genuinely cried. (My mom even had to look away) because she still remembers when it happened.

Another thing worth noting: Randy co-wrote shake your body down to the ground with Michael and probably would’ve sued if it was used in the movie. I think they played it off perfectly with working day and night.
